Google Contact Sync Problem

So i added all my phone contacts to my gmail account, so i dont have to rely on backup assistant on verizon. The only problem is when I add a new contact on my phone there is no option to set google as the default Contact Type, default is phone. I've been looking around and can't find any way to set google as default Contact Type. So if i can't set google as default Contact Type, is there an app or something that syncs all my phone contacts with google, so I can do that and just not view the phone contacts, so there would be no doubles in view? Just had this discussion on another board. When you add a contact on your phone you have to choose Google as the contact type(it's actually the first box at the top). Then it will save to google(or at least SHOULD).

yeah i know you have to select google as the contact type, I'm just wondering if there is a way to make that the default contact type.
