Google Contacts not staying or syncing - Galaxy S7 Android

Hi
I am having the same issue.
Contacts I enter on my phone do not stay.
Contacts I enter in my desktop not sync over from my desktop.
What is going on ??

Things you do on your desktop (unless you're at Google Contacts) won't sync to the phone.

Contacts you enter on the phone and save should stay. Just entering a contact, then hitting the Home button, doesn't save the contact.
