Flashed my Nexus 4, & 5 with the 5.0.1, fired up Google Music and got the error that I had too many authorized devices. Went to devices and noticed that everytime I had flashed my devices it counted as a new device. Of course I was only able to remove 4 of them. Looking at a previous discussion some folks had mentioned that they could delete 4 devices on a desktop and then another 4 devices straight from the phone. I did not find this to be the case. Needless to say this is very bad news for those of use that wipe and install either ROMs or just stock. Going to run up against the 10 devices limit very soon and then won't be able to remove anything until the end of next year. Absolutely ridiculous.

You can contact customer support and in some cases, where they can verify it is the same device they're willing to manually remove them.

Is the number of devices issue something unique to Google Music? I have no section for devices in Android Settings.

I'm not experiencing that problem, I only see my Nexus 5, Linux Desktop and Nexus 7 on the My Devices list in Play Music and in the Google Play My Devices I see my old Galaxy Nexus, which I haven't deleted, my Nexus 5 and my Nexus 7. There may be a couple of things that I'm doing differently from you. Since I got rid of my Galaxy Nexus I'm only flashing the factory images because the Nexus 5 and 7 are being properly supported by Google, unlike the Galaxy Nexus which forced my to use Cyanogenmod. The other thing that I do is that I name all of my devices in the Android Device manager, I don't use the default names. I suspect that by naming the devices the Device Manager understands that it's the same device eventhough the ROM has been updated.
