Google Edition camera app w/ Photosphere - easy install, no root needed

Hi Everyone, I installed the Google Edition Camera App on my AT&T HTC One and it works well. It did not replace the stock HTC Camera App and the shortcut on the home screen still brings up the stock camera, and it still works just fine including Zoe mode. However there is only one Camera app in the app drawer now and it's for the Google Edition app. Also there are two Gallery apps on the phone now, the new Google Edition one and the original HTC one.

Picture quality looks the same to me in my limited testing between the two with maybe a slight edge towards the Google Edition.

Thanks!

I tried to install on my Samsung Epic d700(Sprint) rooted with CyanogenMod (Jelly Bean 4.2.2) It started the process and after a few seconds said it could not install it. I just use this phone to access internet wireless. It is Sprint Phone that I bought with the understanding that the ESN was bad.

Any one else successful with this phone?

Bloody WOW.

Works perfectly on my Sony Xperia ZL.

I used my phone's browser to download the file linked on the forum. Used ES file explorer to access my "downloads" folder. A single tap got the setup process going. I did not install anything else. My original phone app is unchanged and unaffected as far as I can tell. I now have two different camera icons in my app launcher. My default photo library, called "Album" displays the panoramic picture files without a hitch. As far as I can tell, there's no conflict, and I'm getting the best of both worlds.

Thank you, this is a very sweet feature. Just realized Sony's stock camera app seems to have it's own panoramic capability... LOL. Proves how little of my phone's camera features I know....

Works great with S3 running Telus official 4.1.2. The only problem is that I cannot find an option to change the save location to my SD card. Please let me know if anyone find an option to change the file location.

Thank you so much.

Same here. Not sure if the option is just not there or I am missing something.

Just un-installed it, now that I know my phone already has panoramic capability, I guess I'll just use that, but I'm keeping this file, There are other Android devices I want to try it on. I just can't see a reason for wanting a whole "bubble picture", even if the concept is cute, I don't see being of much use to me.

Works perfectly on a stock Sprint Galaxy Note 2, and seems to have no problem co-existing with the TW camera/gallery app.

Thanks a ton. I've been *dying* to play with Photosphere since Google revealed it last year :)

Works perfect on RAZR HD maxx. Had to uninstall the previous gallery apk. BTW guys if your phone doesn't have a gyroscope photosphere will not work

Sent from my XT926 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

Works on my Galaxy Nexus!

Using the volume buttons to take pictures is awesome;)

Works perfectly on my ATT GS3 w/ 'Beans' build 15, however I noticed there is no HDR mode and I've see pictures that say otherwise. Oh well, if I want HDR I'll use my TW camera app

AT&T Thrill 4G (LG Optimus 3D) running rooted ICS
-Mostly Works
-3D Button DOES work to snap a photo if you change it from 3D_MODE to Camera in the keyboard file. (Unlike the Thrill 4G's ICS camera)
-Photosphere works
-Crashes if you switch back from front camera to back camera. Need to clear data to fix it
-Overrides default camera launching triggered from holding down hardware camera button. No default to reset it.

Sprint HTC Evo 3D
running modded ICS (Still on Sense, not a totally new ROM)
-Works 100%
-Shutter button works as desired. Half-click to focus. Full-click to snap picture
-Photosphere works
-Switching from Front camera to back works fine.
-Overrides default camera launching triggered from holding down hardware camera button. No default to reset it.

Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4
running rooted 4.2 stock OS
-Works 100%
-Photosphere works
-Volume keys work as a shutter

Motorola 32GB Wifi Xoom unrooted stock 4.1
-Works 100%
-Photosphere works
-Replaces stock camera (Makes sense. It's a Google Experience device)
-Volume keys work as a shutter

I could test on my wife's Photon 4G, but it's on 2.3. Not sure if it's worth trying.

am i missing something, all i see is the gallery .apk... is there a separate .apk for the camera?
