This has probably been asked before, so I apologize for the stupid question but is there anyway to get a Google Edition S4 for Verizon?

What is the best device to get on Verizon then that would get pretty timely updates for a while? MotoX?

Is there even a remote chance that Verizon will get the Nexus 5?

I don't think timely updates and Verizon go together.. For any phone lol.

I would say moto x is your best bet if you want the closest to stock like experience.

I thought this but last night I went to best buy and got an S4. It's got Google now on it! I returned the one I got through Verizon and went to best buy because someone told me they had Google now ones and this one certainly is!

The one I bought through Verizon 2 weeks ago didn't have Google now on it. My new one does but now I have a crap load of weird things. Sigh!

The idea that the Moto X will get updates faster is pure speculation. Neither the Galaxy S4 nor the Moto X have 4.3 yet, so it's hard to say that either one will be better or worse for how timely their updates are. We do know that the S3 (yes, S3) will be getting 4.3 so there's a good chance the S4 will be getting updates for over a year as well. Motorola has changed ownership and kind of retooled some of their strategy with the newer phones so it's hard to find precedent for how they'll update. I agree there's a good chance that they will give their flagship phones updates for a while as well, though.

Verizon is just a horrible provider to be on if you want to be on the latest cutting edge devices. Don't expect Nexus or Google Play edition devices to ever be on Verizon. GSM is the way to go.

I've been with Verizon almost 15 years and during my "smart phone career" I can honestly say that Verizon almost always pushes out updates last.
