Just figured I would give everyone a heads up with the device protection from Google Fi. No issues with he service until my phone fell out of my hands while I was walking down the subway stairs last Thursday on my way home. I opted for the 5.00 a month device protection plan. Got home and opened a claim which was easy enough and they said a new replacement phone was on its way with a delivery date of the 13-16. OK, I though, not having a phone on Friday the 13 will suck, but the weekend I'm home or out with the wife, so its not a big deal and I will have it on Monday the latest but it could be here on friday the 13th anyway. Its Thursday the 19th and the phone still has not shipped and no one can tell me when it will ship. The best answer I have received was, it is delayed and it could be a few more days.....Long story short, I cancelled this morning and I'm back with my old carrier. If you going with Fi, chose don't use them as a device replacement. The fine print doesn't say specifically when they have to send a replacement. It says reasonable....and Fi feels a week or so is more than reasonable. Use a third party but don't depend on project Fi... All the best.
