Really wanted to love the native LG keyboard as I read so many high praises about it. Struggled with it for two weeks. Found I had to be very precise in sliding my thumb from one letter to the next to get the keyboard to come up with the correct word. It was supposed to get smarter over time. Didn't happen. Considered going back to my trusty SwiftKey that I used on my HTC One (M7), but there were a lot of complaints in the reviews on the Google Play Store from LG G3 users who said it was laggy and buggy. The Google Keyboard was pre-installed on my AT&T G3 so I thought I'd give it a try. It only took a few texts and an email to prove to me that this keyboard is a winner. Unbelievable how sloppy I can be sliding around the keyboard and the correct word pops up every time.
G3 owners ought to give the Google keyboard a try before searching too far on the Google Play Store for something better.

Glad that you are enjoying Google Keyboard, it is my favourite keyboard app as well!

However I wanted to ask what theme do you use over the Google keyboard?

I've been drifting between Material White, Material Dark and HOLO white quite often.

SWYPE rules! Lol. Drag the beginning letter above the keyboard to make the first letter capital is the function I can not find in any other keyboard. The other keystrokes I use, that i also can not do in any other keyboard is to swipe from the letter X and M to enter the ! And the ? Respectively. They just had it for free in Amazon App Store (just used the dragging the first letter of each word above the keyboard to give you Amazon App Store) not too long ago. It was also priced at 99¢ in the Playstore recently. With every penny.

Except that it gave you "with" instead of worth...

I used Swype years ago, starting with my droid x, but it looks dated now. None of the themes are any good. It kinda makes me feel like I'm looking at my droid x still. Gave Swiftkey a shot and it was good for awhile, but there were a few things about it that drove me crazy. Switched to Google keyboard about a month ago, so far it's been better than both Swype and Swiftkey

I use Google Keyboard only as well with the Material Dark theme. It only took me 5 minutes to figure out that the LG Keyboard was junk. And you are correct about being sloppy and Google suggesting the proper word. It's the best.

Swiftkey here also. Nothing wrong with Google but I like Swiftkey better because of the numbers row. Use what fits you best.

Agreed... I kept trying the lg one and it seemed to stumble for me. I also for the life of me couldn't find the dollar sign $...
I'm using material light theme. Did everyone figure out that if you long hold the blue return key on Google keyboard you get the ☺ ?

SwiftKey here. I did like the speed of the the Google keyboard and prediction seemed better as well. I stayed with the SwiftKey for two reasons. The lack of a prediction bar when entering anything but text messages, and I prefer the layout of the SwiftKey as well.

stock LG keyboard has emojis compatible with iOS users. Google keyboard have that?
A quick test by texting a friend with an iPhone 6 shows that the emojis are compatible, at least the few I sent to him (variations of smilies).

Google keyboard has their own emoji database, but I don't use it as I prefer the iOS emoji's. That being said, I have the emoji add-on for EvolveSMS which uses the iOS ones. So, I have the best of both worlds!

I agree that the Google keyboard is more accurate (also more accurate than swiftkey in my opinion), but I love the dedicated number row and even the resizing of the LG keyboard too much to go back to Google. If Google would just get off their butts and give us a number row option, I'd go back in a heartbeat (and yes, I tried the PC layout trick on Google keyboard and hated it).

SHAFTAMLE has the Google Keyboards with dedicated number rows available here:

Shafta123-L-StockGreen is what you're looking for.

I personally like the number row embedded as it saves a little more space.

Swiftkey's text prediction is so good I only have to type, or swype, half or fewer of the letters I actually write. It gets many inputs right after only 1 letter. That saves me more time than any supposed lag can add.
