Google Keyboard voice input Issues

So randomly in the last 2 days my Google keyboard has started acting up and I don't know why. If it has been awhile (greater than 5 minutes) since the last time I typed anything on my phone when I select a spot to input text the voice input comes up and I have to pause it and then press a button to trigger the keyboard to come up. I have no idea what is suddenly causing this and can not think of anything I may have changed to cause it. I have looked through every setting I can think of and nothing seems to correct the issue. Does anyone have any idea what else to try?

Perhaps you should try to clear the application data. Settings/apps/Google Keyboard and hit the clear data button. You should probably save your user dictionary first.
