Google Launcher on Moto-X

How is the Google launcher working on the Moto-X? I am about to buy the Dev model and want to use GEL.

a lot better than the stock launcher. I was using nova for a long time but i like Google launcher

I use it and I love it. I have it in my Nexus 7 and it works great there too.

I love the google launcher and don't see myself going back to stock launcher. also side loaded it on my nexus 7. takes a while to set it back up as you only start with 2 or 3 screens I think, but works great after that.

I've been pleasantly surprised as well. Was using Nova but loaded GEL and haven't looked back. I miss some of the customizations, but it's really effective in its minimal design.

GEL, or Google Experience Launcher. You have to find the apk as it's not included in the 4.4 update to the Moto X.

On a side note, I installed something called "Kit Kat Launcher" and it works pretty good...designed like GEL, but better IMO. I dontated the $2 to the developer. I think it's worth it to support these guys

I find lack of customization options and ginormous icon in GEL not a viable contender and went back to Nova. There is absolutely no difference in speed between the two - both are buttery smooth. Google Now leftmost screen option loses its value as soon as more than one home screen is created.

You dont need the dev version - GEL can be installed on any version

Besides a bit of a different icon appearance, that is the main difference-swipe to the left. Also you can limit the device to 1 screen..you create screens by adding a shortcut or widget to that screen

I can't stand having a limit on how many apps fit in a folder or not having the ability to add multiple apps at a time to a folder. I also missed the "sort" button in the folders.
