Verizon Galaxy S8 Google Maps audio from S8 not going through Bluetooth

Would appreciate help with this. All of my S8 audio goes through bluetooth to my car's audio fine except for turn directions from Google Maps, which play out the S8 speaker. Even the Google Maps startup audio goes through bluetooth but once I start and am underway, all directions go out the speaker. I can be playing music through the bluetooth, and when a direction comes up, it will mute the bluetooth music and play the direction out the speaker, and then unmute the music and resume through the bluetooth. How can I fix this?

In Maps check [Settings]->[Navigation settings] ensure Play voice over Bluetooth is On, Play audio cues is On
