Google Maps....Battery Killer?

Google Maps uses up near 50% of my battery, if not more. This is with gps DISABLED as well as wifi location. I always have to "Freeze" it with TB, and "Defrost" it whenever I need to use it.... This was always the case on SP Cm7, Ath3nos, as well as this Drew's one...hmmmm

Have you ever looked into Gemini app manager? Can configure all auto-run settings as well as lock apps.

never heard of this app, I will have to check it out. but yes google maps is running it seems ALL the time, so I always freeze it and unfreeze it when I need it as well.

That's why I go to the Apps Manager in Settings each time I turn on or reboot my phone, Google Maps kills the battery. I also leave GPS and WiFi off when I don't need them. This recent update to version 5.8.0 is starting to piss me off. Google Maps relaunches randomly and starts running down the battery again. Is there a way to edit the setting that launches each app by default?

I had that same issue once. For some reason my battery was dying ridiculously fast after flashing a new rom and when i went to battery usage i saw google maps was using over 50%. I just cleared the data for google maps and cleared cache in recovery and it was fine after that.

Yeah it is probably something specific to your setup. Google Maps doesn't drain battery for me. I just back out and it goes to sleep fine. I'd start with the previous suggestion. If that doesn't work try different versions of Google Maps (clearing dalvik each time you switch versions)

Read my suggestion it works for any app that auto starts randomly.

Other programs will start Maps. Family tracker and the Perv tracker will make it run all the time so check that these similar programs aint running it too.
