Weird things are happening... earth quakes... actual Google wallet leaks... and my google maps eating my battery.

I checked my battery usage and it showed Google maps from 6% to a climb to 19% before the day was over. Normally I wouldn't pay any mind to this; but, I didn't even launch maps from the time I rebooted my phone to the times I checked....

I don't have latitude on. Why is it eating batter for no reason?

Anyone else having this issue?

Exactly. Location Based services is running. Are you using the web a lot or an app that is using your location?

Are we talking cake batter or brownie batter? Cause there's always a reason to eat brownie batter.

It could be anything besides Latitude that wants to know your location. I've stopped caring that Google Maps is running since it always wants to but doesn't drain the battery. I also haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary with it today or recently. I think they added a weather overlay to it though, or that might just be the desktop version.

I think I figured out what it is. For a few hours now I'm not even seeing maps show up and I used the app for something.

What I did was go into latitude (which wasn't even on in the first time) turned off detect location automatically resigned out of latitude. And it stopped.

Maybe something with the new update.
