Google Maps navigation always starts me off at the same wrong location :/

Hey All. I'm not sure this thread is still active. I have the same problem with Maps on my PC. I, too live in Raleigh, and Maps always defaults to Columbia, SC. I don't want to hijack this thread, if someone knows of another thread that addresses this problem on the PC version of maps, please point me there.

I am facing the EXACT same issue. Clearing the cache didn't help. Switching off Wi-Fi didn't help. Maps is picking up one particular location in my city as the starting point. I have never been to that point, never looked it up, never traveled from there - nothing. Then why? How do I get back to "My Location" taking my correct current location?

Mine always starts from Maine but I live in Georgia I did not have this problem before I updated

Exact same issue on a Samsung S8edge.
Interesting thing: When I'm signed on in one google profile, it always has "my location" as my home. When I sign out of maps and sign in using another google profile, it finds my current location accurately.

Hey,
My problem might have a very simple solution but I just can't seem to work it out.

In Google maps, my current location is recognized but when I want to navigate from My Location to somewhere else it always starts the rout from a very random place about 70 km away from where I am, and always from the same place (A North Face store for some reason).

Any help would be very appreciated!

Noga.

The problem is happened on WIFI or mobile network?

I too am having the same issue of Google Maps starting my routes in the wrong location. It is starting my routes at "Home" even though I am choosing "My Location" on the selection. Therefore it must have somehow set "My Location" as "Home".

Phone brand; Samsung S8+ (SM-G955U)
Version of Android; v7.0
Version number of Google maps; v9.51.1 (#951100020)
Which location sharing settings you are using at your device; GPS, Wifi, Mobile networks
How far away; I was in Las Vegas trying to route to a restaurant 1 to 2 miles away and Maps would start "My Location" as my "Home" location in Phoenix, AZ. 300 miles away. No matter what I did the route would always start at Home and not my actual location. The error is where maps is reporting "My Location".

Please help.

Here are some screen snapshots showing the error. The first shows a closeup of the actual "My Location" by the blue dot and the Drop point is only a short distance away. The second shows the total route starting in the wrong "My Location" as my home in Phoenix.

I am having this problem also. It started last Friday when I was about 300 miles away for field work. When I tried to navigate from that location, it insisted on using my "Work" location for the starting point. On Saturday, it insisted on using "Home" as my starting point, and now (Monday morning) it is again using "Work" as the start location. It is as if it is navigating from where I would usually be at that time, rather than where I actually am. Help.

EDIT: I just noticed lots of reviews at the Google Play Store indicating this issue occurring since the latest update last Thursday, which makes sense since the problem started for me on Friday. Hope they get it fixed ASAP.

POSSIBLE FIX

I started having this problem on 11th May, 2017. My "wrong starting point" was near an old location I had visited back in February. I tried everything from restarting the phone, disabling and enabling the app, updating, deleting updates, disabling Google Location History and then deleting my location history. Nothing seemed to work.
Five days later the problem persisted, so today I opened Account settings on my phone with an intent to sign off my current google account and try with another one to see if the problem was stuck to my device or my account, but before that I just randomly tapped on Sync Now. Upon completion I checked back in Maps and ta-da, it was showing the correct route!

Just my layman's guess, but it could have been that Maps was retaining old location data because it wasn't properly synced with the account and hence showed the wrong starting point in navigation, while it was getting correct live location through the GPS and hence the blue dot was placed correctly.

To resolve the issue log into the google account from a pc and then delete all saved address (home, work, etc.).

Log back into the phone and test. For some reason deleting the address(s) on the phone does not work.

This is the process I used to resolve this issue on a Galaxy 8s and some random LG phone.

Mine started doing this today. Deleting and reinstalling the app just changed the start position to be my home but is still ignores my current location, very annoying! S7 on Andriod 7.0

You could have not selected where to start from. There is a from location where you fill it in and then look for a route. Otherwise it just goes from the last location.

- Android Central App. N'oublions jamais l'Australie, Villers-Bretonneux.

no it does not just "go from the last location", it starts up in michigan. I live in florida and am plagued with the same problem....
