Welcome to the forums. Usually this is a temporary issue, caused by your own connection or some problem with Google servers. If the problem persists you could try this. Go to settings - apps - select Google maps - force stop - clear cache and restart. Tell us how it goes.

I have the same issue on my Samsung N5100 and SM-A500G for a couple of months.
But it works on the PC.
