I am using Google Messages and have been for over a year. 2 people (both have Samsung phones, S8 and S20 or 21) starting a few days ago when they message me the messages are going to the LG app but everyone else are going to google messages like normal. I cant respond to the people in LG app since its not the default messaging app and if i respond in google messages well their response will still go back to the LG app.

Problem is im not sure if this happened after a software update for LG messages or Google messages or it happened after a carrier settings update.

So thought i would see if anybody else is having an issue.

Strange glitch , have you rebooted the phone ?
Make sure in settings>apps>default apps probably 3 dots upper right corner , see if which message app is default?

Power cycled the phone. yes.
Google Messages is the default app.
In LG messages, i can type in a reply but it wont send since its not the default app. The icon to send is greyed out.
Carrier settings updated again last night so ill test today.

Do you have the ability to Disable the stock LG messaging app in Settings>Apps?

Also, are you saying that those messages that go to the LG messaging app don't show up at all in the Google Messages app?

Do you have the Chat feature (i.e., RCS) turned on in the Google Messages app?

Yeah once you choose the default app you cant use both and reason why you see the other greyed out .

I have not disabled or force stop the LG app.
No, messages that pop up on the LG app are not appearing on google app. That too is odd as i can see messages from other people and the messages between the two are identical.
Yes RCS chat features are enabled.

You wouldn't need to disable lg app the system automatically does that once you choose a default one

Who's your carrier? Have you given their support line a call to see if it might be a network issue?

have not called the carrier. But today i am going to set the LG messaging app as default, use it for a day, then tomorrow switch back to google messages as default.
If that fails to fix the issue i will then disable RCS and see if that fixes it.
If that fails i will go to apps, lg messages and clear storage and cache.
So basically a work in progress.
When i got my V60 over a year ago i ditched the LG messaging app due to it being sluggish and super slow. After a while i was happy with Google messages so i just kept it like that.
If LG messages works well i may stick with it.. have not made that decision yet.

Things might be back to normal. I think using the LG app for a while then going back to google messages has fixed the issue.. still waiting on 1 of the problem persons to text me back but the other person is no longer having their messages pop up in LG..
