Google Messenger vs. Google Hangouts ?

I use the new Google messenger all the time now.
The new moto x has a green icon messaging app that is the "default" and has hangouts as an option. Personally, I think Hangouts is a terrible app. (my opinion)
I went in a cleared all data / cache on both of those, force stopped them and disabled them and selected the google messenger as default and it is awesome. Love the new app.

I still use them both. And its a big difference in how the app operates and performs. Its actually comical, how Hangouts functions vs. this app. This app seems so light and quick and it functions well. On Hangouts its slower, has alot of graphics glitches, and the add a new message button is in the wrong place lol.

Has anyone figured out how to use the flash when taking a picture in the Messenger app?
