Google misspells names in contact list, so won't look up correct person

My niece has a name that has a German spelling, so when I ask to have her called, Google looks up an English spelling of the name, and so of course cannot find the correct person. How do I correct this? I have a Samsung Galaxy J7 Crown.

I would enter her in contacts using the English spelling...

Check to see if your contacts app supports "nicknames". If it does, put the English spelling in that field and see if Google does the right thing with its search.
