Yup. In my experience, any beta services Google puts out there works like this. Usually by the time it's no longer in beta, anybody who's been looking to get the service has already got it.The invite is to get the service before it opens to the public. Since it's still in Beta it will only be released to a specified number of people, who in turn may be given invites to hand out. Almost all of Google's products are like this - including Gmail![]()
In a nutshell, yep, that's what you're doing when you get into a beta.So were basically "bug testing" it before the public gets it? Sorry for my newbieness...I never have gotten this invite stuff:-\
With BeyondPod and this I would be able to get rid of my iPod as well... I hope I get into the beta even though I am a new Droid owner. I just hope AllTel/Verizon doesn't add a data usage limit then.So being a xoom user I was able to get access to the beta, and from the initial hands on, the apps seems to work very well, the only drawback currently is that it does take some time to upload (currently at 975 of 9000 songs), but playback is great. I've already replaced my Ipod that I use in my car with my droid x.
Has anyone thought that the player for this was kinda laggy?
sent for my fantastic thunderbolt.

I got my invite today as well! I, too am a Xoom user. But, they sent my invite to my secondary gmail account! I don't understand this because I never requested an invite from that account. I do, have my Xoom and Evo linked to the secondary account set only to sync email. My primary account is used for both devices for email, calendar, voice and all. I requested an invite from my primary account and have yet to receive it.
Needless to say, I accepted the invite and have started uploading music. At the time of this writing, its got 130 songs uploaded and going. I've already started playing with it on my Xoom, and so far so good. I have not tried it on my Evo just yet, but will report back once I do.
Now, all thats left is for my Xoom to get the 3.1 update... still waiting!
...ish.

Signed up, currently waiting for my invite. Who's checking this out?
Same thing happened to me, they actually sent the invite to 2 of my other emails. I ended up using it with one of my accounts and it seems to be working really well.
My only complaint is, that it seems to takes a while to upload songs. i've got around 14,000 tracks, and about 18 hours later I'm only about 800 tracks in.
I'm loving the fact that it's importing my itunes playlists, and playcounts and just about any other info I have tagged to my music. I'm pretty much a stickler when it comes to keeping my music organized in itunes and I'm extremely pleased that it works well with this.
all the comments so far are making me anxious and ready to receive my invite.
