What possible advantage does this have over Amazon? I've been using the Amazon cloud and I think its pretty awesome

I've been using the free 5GB with Amazon for a bit now, holding out for what Google music might have to offer. With no invite though, I'm losing patience and will probably pull the trigger on the free 20GB for a year with an MP3 album purchase at Amazon.
Amazon has trouble properly identifying music. It labeled about 1/3 of mine unknown artist. I hope google does a better job with it.
Not just me, when I googled it others have the exact same issue.
"Rolling in" probably isn' t the best term to use for this article. Perhaps "Tricking in" would have been better?

I think it is first come first serve. I said that I signed up a few minutes before the keynote, but I actually signed up a few minutes before the Android blogs posted that it was live. ~ 45 mins before the keynote. I don't think they sent that many invites because this definitely has to strain their servers.
About the service itself, it's pretty good. Some bugs, as expected. But my Thunderbolt is handling the music app like a champ!

Probably true. Bugs are to be expected, but if it's "full of bugs" after nearly a year of work, it'll be in beta for a long time.
Just got my invite and I'm uploading my music library now! Finally being an early Xoom adopter pays off.

I now have two google music accounts! I got the update for my primary account yesterday. They sent me an invite for my secondary account first, so thats the one I used. Don't know what to do with two. Wonder if i can use it to double my capacity...

I'm curious how google music will compare to Amazon. I'm currently using the 5GB free on Amazon, but it has a couple minor bugs that are keeping me from upgrading. If I hear google music doesn't measure up yet, I'll probably just go with Amazon.
Where do you currently buy your music? iTunes? CD? I think the Amazon service is really good. The only bug I see is that when a song ends, it plays a split second of the beginning of that song before going to the next song. I am using Chrome, if that makes a difference.
I wish Google Music had access to Winamp. Also, what I don't like so far is that Google attempts to upload 100% of your music, from what I can tell. My Music has about 9000 songs. I have music rated, though, so I don't clutter my library with stuff I don't really care for. There is no way to upload just highly rated music. An upload via playlist would be ideal for me. I created a workaround and it's working well enough.
I'm curious how good the quality is on downloaded tracks and how big the files are.

Thanks for the info. 99% of my music is from CD's. I bought a couple things from iTunes once, but haven't used iTunes in ages. My wife has an Incredible also, and has bought a good bit of MP3 albums from Amazon and she has no complaints. I downloaded a free MP3 song from Amazon recently. The song was 3:30 in length, and 7.52MB in size, if that helps. At that size, should be a high bitrate (probably 256 or 320kbps) and good quality. I will play it in my car at lunch and let you know if it sounds better than most of my 192kbps bitrate MP3's I have ripped from CD's.

As I mentioned, the song was 3:30 in length and 7.52MB in size. In comparing it's sound quality with CD's I ripped at 192kbps it had a slightly noticeable increase in quality. Mind you, nothing earth shattering, but noticeable. Based on that test, I'd be relatively confident in buying Amazon MP3's.

Oh, and so far I'm thrilled with the service, although it'll take a while to upload my 2500 songs. But installation of the music manager was fast and easy, out found all my music, and the uploaded songs appeared instantly on my phone and browser.
