Google Music is Live!

So far I really like the phone player. I haven't had much time to use the player on my laptop. My only complaints are; 1. no shuffle capability on 3g, and 2. listening over 3g is a battery eater. I have wifi at home, and very poor wifi here at work (a free "hotspot" for customers). I do love having my entire collection at my fingertips, and all the free songs Google gave with the pc player, even though some I will delete.

Finally got my invite. Songs are currently uploading. Streaming to my phone is working good so far. I wish the player on the phone had lock screen controls, hopefully that will be a future feature. The player on my phone is a bit buggy, plus no way to "close" it without going to Settings > Apps and Force Stopping it. I see a Google Music vs Amazon MP3 review on my blog soon, although I will take into consideration Google Music's beta status.

Edit: Although so far I've only been streaming over WiFi at work. The true test will be when I get on the road and am playing it in my car over 3G. Amazon MP3 skips to the next song randomly when I'm on the road, I'm hoping Google Music is a bit better in that regard.

Tried it this morning at the gym, on 3G, and it showed the options for shuffle on/off, but it wouldn't shuffle for me.I will try again here soon, and report back.

Edit: OK my apologies, shuffle does work over 3G, it just took a little while for it to show on my screen. Yes lack of lock screen controls is a downer for now, and the widget could use some cosmetic makeover, it's a bit bland and plain.

Well, it is a google product.

What I meant was, the UI of the widget. All you get is play, pause and next. Options for playlist, artist, album.....would be much better. Maybe throw in album art when playing. Just my random thoughts.

Does anyone who received the invite have an EVO. Because now my paranoid Android mind is thinking there could be something wrong cause I'm seeing a lot of people with XOOM's as one of their devices or Droid X's, Droids, DInc's and Thunderbolts, Atrix and EVEN A HERO but no EVO.

I like Google Music so far. I have my entire iTunes library uploaded. so my iPod touch has basically entered early retirement. I will agree that the lack of lock screen controls is a little disappointing, but it isn't a deal breaker and maybe Google will give us lock screen controls eventually.

Between Google Music and the infamous Gingerbread, this X may be the death of me!
