Google Music is Live!

Ive got 6500/8500 of my songs uploaded. Goes so slow. I can't wait to finish it. Seems promising overall though.

6403 out of 14527. Been going for days. I'll be playing these at my retirement. And it is bogging down the computer like you would not believe.

My internet went out in the middle of the night and so now I'm showing over 3,000 failed uploads.... Now when I start it it only has a few left to go out of 300 (should be over 4,000). Has anybody had this problem and found a way to restart the failed uploads?

Did you ever get your failed uploads uploaded? I had about 3,000 failed uploads, too, but I figured out how to get them cloud-bound. ;)

LMK.

LMFAO!!!!!! I know. Crazily slow. I quit the Music Manager application when I'm on my computer, and then fire it up when I go to bed and to work. Can't wait to have all my music loaded though. If you stop to think about it, it's truly amazing that I'll be able to access my entire collection anywhere I can get online. Who'da ever thunk that???

I'm with ya - it's the very concept of it that amazes me. Thinking of all the SD card space I'll save. Now, if they open an API up to other music playing apps - like PowerAmp - that actually have better sound quality, THEN we'll have something truly incredible.

It just started up again next time I ran the music manager. Now it says complete but I have about 15 songs that are missing. What did you do to workaround it?

In Music Manager, select a different music library to upload (I used Windows Media), even if you don't have stuff to upload from there. Click apply. Then, switch back to iTunes (or wherever you are uploading from) and then click Apply. I think this just kind of resets it, but for the life of me, this was the only thing that worked! Found it on some guy's random blog... not on Google Music help pages.

Ya it uses up all of my network so I do it at night and when I work. I have probably 6 days nonstop of upload. And I just added more songs. Its crazy slow but will be so worth it in the end as I learned today.

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling? I wonder if this has the same effect as that would.

k, got a different phone, tried it out....ehh, not that much different then what i used to do with dropbox to be honest.

it's just another cloud service.

and the reason they may charge money, simple, royalty fees, the reason pandora is free is because of ad revenue, they get a small percentage with each play on songs now (enough to buy a dinner at chillis for about 600 plays, and that's about it)

Is there any way to limit the cache the music app builds on your phone?

I figured it would be capped at some number and new songs streamed would replace older songs streamed...but instead my sd card just filled itself up. I deleted the cache from the phone but don't want to keep doing that every month or so

I don't know of a way to limit the cache, but I disabled it completely by unchecking the box "Cache music" in Settings.
