Google Music, is there a way to not have it play automatically?

I stream audio in the car and it is usually Pandora or Sirius, each time my bluetooth connects in the car it automatically starts playing the first song in my Google Music Library. Is there a way to stop this from happening so I don't need to go each time to the music app and pause the song to hear what I really want to listen to?

Would love an answer for this. I have had this problem with a Droid X, my wifes Droid Inc 2 and now my Nexus. As soon as its in range of any bluetooth product that its synced to, music starts playing. I can not believe there is not solution for this.

Just brainstorming, could it have anything to do with dlna or mediashare? I only ask because i froze those on my x and it didnt happen to me

I had exactly the same situation, like you I went looking for an answer but didn't find one. Then, somehow the problem just stopped - I have no idea how. Now when I connect to my car stereo via bluetooth nothing launches (which is how I want it to be).

If I figure out what changed to make it work this way I'll post it here.

The way I work around it is to set Google Music to stream via WiFi only in the settings.

It's not the most elegant solution, but it's the only one I've found.

That's a good idea - problem for me is I've downloaded a fair bit of Google Music catalog for offline listening.

I will try that solution but for me I don't stream from google. The music is resident on the phone, I'm only streaming from Pandora and Sirius.

I dont have this issue at all, Does it start playing when you sync with a bluetooth headset as well? Or is it just certain types of bluetooth devices?

Re: Google Music, is there a way to not have it play automaticall

This is the reason I uninstalled it. It did it when I plugged in headphones.

Weird, I don't have this problem at all and I use bluetooth streaming all the time. Running stock 4.0.2.

Music Player is version: 4.1.511

Re: Google Music, is there a way to not have it play automaticall

Same version of player. The phone does the same thing if I put headphones into it as it does when I connect via bluetooth for media streaming. Clicking stream wi-fi only didn't fix the issue.

I would uninstall the program except, Power Amp isn't compatible with Equalizer so I don't have to crank the radio up to 10 to hear any music.

hmmm.

Google Music, the app that never quits!

This has been happening to me a lot. Each time it has been while streaming Pandora with Bluetooth to my car. If I take a phone call, sometimes Pandora resumes as it should. Other times Google Music plays even though it's not showing up in the app list. The only way to stop it is by using the notification control. One time it actually played both Music and Pandora at the same time.

I never had this issue with Google Music when I plug in my headset lol Besides, I use PowerAMP :D

I have this same issue with power amp thus I do not keep music on my phone now.

Re: Google Music, is there a way to not have it play automaticall

I have only used Bluetooth for music once and had to start Google Music so it didn't happen to me, I'm always using headphones but have not had this happen when using headphones either.

Re: Google Music, is there a way to not have it play automaticall

I think I just found something that may cause the issue. Any chance its because in Google Music I have the Cache Music checked off which is storing the music on the phone?

Please confirm a solution,.
I have same problem that when I am in my car and my phone is paired via BT, it starts playing automatically files from my Google Music play.
I do want to connect automatically whe i get into my car so i can receive and make phone calls via BT

Also I have another player Wav Player, installed on my Razr to play wav files from email (office voicemail) sometimes when i read from my email the wav player, i see the player working but cant hear anything, i guess the google player is blocking out the wav player sound.
any help is appreciated.

I just got a Fitbit, and within 5 minutes of me pairing it with my phone, Google Music started. This helped take my usual 9-11 hours of battery life down to 5 hours. Really Google Music? You're trying to play music through my fitbit? Fail.

This may be the final straw that sends me to a mod'ed ROM so I can uninstall some of these crap apps that Samsung loaded on my phone, that can't be removed.
