Google Music stored

/storage/sdcard0/Android/data/com.google.android.music/

The files are all coded, so you're not going to find the original MP3 files. I imagine Google does this to curb pirating of music.
 
Yet you can download your library to a hard drive. Make perfect sense!

That's true, but it requires you to use the Music Manager on your computer. I see it as a partial deterrence, because more and more people are using their mobile devices more than their desktop/laptop computers, so Google probably targeted that area.
