Google Nave problem where the screen goes to Standby Mode

So I was using Google Nav today and while driving, the screen went into standby mode(black). I hit the button on the side and the Nav came back, but then went into Standby mode again. Anyone else experience this or have any thoughts on how to remedy this. Thanks!

I always set my screen not to turn off when charging (at least I did for the two times I used my phone with GNav). Go:

- Home - Menu - Settings - Applications - Development
- Stay awake

This is assuming you're using a car charger in this process.

Please note that I *think* my battery actually lost charge when I had the screen brightness all the way up (though with it down at night it seemed to charge slowly).
