Google Navigation not saying street names

Is anyone else having the issue where Google navigation is not saying street names? It looks like some people have fixed by rooting and flashing Google TTS engine, but I don't want to root the phone just yet as I'm w/in my 14 day return window. Does anyone know of a non-root way to resolve?

I've tried uninstalling updates to Google Maps. I have not done a factory reset on the phone just yet.

It's really odd to listen to it with no street names:
"In 500 ft turn ... right. Then turn ... right"

Thanks for any help.

Mine does the same thing and its really annoying. I am not sure what the problem is. It speaks main roads and interstates fine but any strees nothing. Maps spoke all roads on my old GS3 with google maps so it has to be an LG thing.

Update:

I installed IVONA TTS from the play store. In a quick test during lunch, it was saying the street names. The voice quality is livable.

I think its AT&T. The Google TTS engine is on the other versions of the G2 from what I have read.

Is there anyway we can download the Google TTS engine and put it on our phones?

I don't believe so. At least not without rooting and I don't want to root just yet. I'm one of those weirdos who likes to use my phone as it came for a while before I root and ROM.

Not true because I had the gs4 on att and that had Google tts

And I have read posts where it's on Verizon's version of the G2. It's not on the AT&T version.
True, it could still be LG's fault, but I really doubt it.

OK. Google released its TTS engine to the play store. I will test later to see if it fixes the issue.

Ivona still works, but would rather Google.

I downloaded Google TTS, rebooted turned on Google Navigation/GPS this morning and I still don't get street names announced what did I do wrong :-\

I had the same issue and here is the procedure to resove it:

1- go to "System setting" --> "Accessibility" --> "Text-to-speech output" --> select "Pico TTS" instead of "LG TTS+" and that should resolve it.

I would recommend Google tts over Pico. But to each his own.

Mine just started doing that after the last update and I have an SG 3. You're correct, it is very annoying and although it gave the wrong name of the street occasionally, it was overall pretty good and much preferable to a generic "turn here".
