Google Nexus 6 Cannot afford off-contract price; is this a viable option?

[I am on Verizon] Can anybody help me with a question. I cannot afford the $650 off contract price, so does it make sense for me to get an iPhone on contract, sell it, and use the money for the Nexus 6? Any other idea or thoughts would really help. Thanks!

Not really. Why not just hang out a bit and see what Verizon announces for on-contract sales?

Not only that there is no hard core proof Verizon would let you activate it fully if you bought one outright... Yes it should work on their network but until Verizon announces it you are taking one heck of a gamble...... Until they start flowing out and people are able to activate it on Verizon from the Play Store, Motorola or even a T-Mobile device... I wouldn't risk it myself....

Sorry, should have mentioned that in the original post. I am willing to wait a bit; I'm just worried with all the rumors going around that they would support it but not sell it and so what should I do then.

If you are not in a major rush you can always keep an eye out for the "It's too big for me" ads on Craigslist in January..... If you were on AT&T or T-Mobile I'd say go ahead and upgrade to a the iPhone 6 and then you could probably find a trading partner in January who "Wants to go back to the iPhone and a smaller sized phone." and maybe trade straight up or gain or lose a few bucks in a trade....

It's a lot of work but I did it before.. Traded an HTC EVO to a guy looking to get rid of a brand new iPhone and back to Android and then in the same weekend traded the iPhone for a Galaxy S3 and $50 in cash from him...... spent more time in Sprint stores switching them out but it is what it is...

Oh and you have to be okay with a lightly used device too.. some people want new only....

Well that's why I would consider the iPhone 6. I would buy it, not even open it up and maybe sell it on eBay. Whatever, its all theoretical until Verizon actually says something whether yay or nay

If you have decent credit you can get it for 18-months interest free financing from moto if you don't mind the $35-$40 monthly payments.

I'd just wait.. Verizon should sell on contract price in December based on rumors seen here. Failing that it should be early 2015.

It's already confirmed that a Play Store N6 will activate and work on Verizon, so you have nothing to lose with this plan. Get a iPhone 6+, sell it for 750-800, buy a N6 from Google or even better from Motorola on financing, the only problem is the low stock right now.

I'm going to do the exact same thing, only question is how do I keep my current unlimited plan, maybe BestBuy trick will still work.

If you order from them, you can choose to keep your current plan. Verizon doesn't allow this anymore.

Online. Do not go to store. Take the new sim out and put the old sim from your phone in then turn the phone on. That way you keep your same data plan if you have unlimited.

You can just go in and get a new Sim. Or buy a Sim cutter on amazon and cut the Sim your self.
