Google Nexus 6 So its just anothe phone now, not special?

Price is same as any other flagship phone
Google didn't say if carrier version would be free of bloatware
Google didn't say if carrier version would get updates direct from Google

So Nexus 6 is just like any other phone sold, except its branded by Google?

Re: So its just anothe phone now, not special?

?

It's no different than any other Nexus device. There are carrier versions, and there is an unlocked version. The price is premium, but there are no indications that anything else has changed with regards to your other concerns.

Re: So its just anothe phone now, not special?

It's not really the same price as a flagship phablet. The note 4 is upwards of $800. So this is still a good price.

But at that price I would rather pay a little more to get a superior camera, features and s-pen. Don't get me wrong I really wanted this phone, but after the reveal I am unimpressed.

Note4 is 699 unlocked on Verizon, with better hardware.

At $350 its easy to excuse the N5 shortcomings. At $650 the N6 cannot have any.

I agree, the Nexus 6 cannot have any short comings, and since we havent seen any reviews or actually used the device, we cant draw any conclusions ( or at least we shouldnt draw any conclusions ) on any shortcomings.

Re: So its just anothe phone now, not special?

What are the short coming anyway? Like you said. We don't know anything but specs. There's no real world performance to base anything off of yet.

Re: So its just anothe phone now, not special?

There may not be any. I personally view the lack of Moto software on a phone made by Motorola as inexcusable.

Google Nexus 6 Anyone still believe the $50 contract price from AT&T ?

The one in the 'leak' yesterday. I certainly don't, not for a $650 device. It'd be cheaper to buy it for $50 and pay $350 ETF !!!

Re: Anyone still believe the $50 contract price from AT&T ?

It'll be on T-Mobile on Nov 12th as well. I still might buy this phone if the Google Play price is cheaper than the carrier prices.

Re: Anyone still believe the $50 contract price from AT&T ?

Nope, I'm sure that was just a placeholder. If it is true, I'm signing up just for the phone and then paying the ETF and going to another carrier

Like previous people said Nexus now has 0 excuses. At that price your touching Note 4 territory and this might be the first time I don't buy a Nexus device.

Play store price is also 650

I don't know about better hardware. Motorola have better signal and call quality than even Samsung, and build quality as well, even with that aluminum frame for this Note4 this time.

MicroSD inclusion and removable battery do not constitute better hardware. I see removable battery as a con, and not everyone care for microSD, most regular users don't even use it. It's the techie that care about microSD and removable battery. Finger print scanner and heat rate sensors are useless gimmicks, I do not even want them on a phone.

As for the camera the jury is still out. It's using the Sony Exmor 214 which is used by the best Android phones right now with OIS. Motorola post processing software sucks, but Android L have a new camera API. I don't know how good it is going to be, but it will be at least better than the Moto X.

Also the combination of Android L and stock Android undoubtedly will allow it to have longer battery life than the Note 4 with Touchwiz. There are couple things Note 4 have like the SPen and Touchwiz features, but you have to realize, not everyone want those Samsung things which is why they look to a stock Android device like this.

PS. $699 on Verizon is still on Verizon, which have very pricy plans. Most people who use Nexus prefer unlocked GSM phones and ability to switch carriers freely. These two phones appeal to different type of users.

But that is $699 unlocked from Verizon.... Does the unlocked Verizon version work on other GSM carriers? The unlocked "World" Note 4 is $800+ unlocked.... The Verizon price is only good if you use Verizon..... what if you are on T-Mobile? or Sprint? or AT&T?

I'm just giving an example. Not everyone wants a world phone, for someone on Verizons network they'd just compare these 2.

From what I understand about Verizon phones all of them come GSM unlocked with LTE. They had to make a deal with the FCC for some bands they wanted. I have an HTC One M8 that I use on Straight Talk/ATT and it works just fine. As long as Verizon does like Sprint and Tmobile did with the Nexus 5 it'll be the exact same phone that you'd buy from the Google Play store

I was stuck on Sprint another CDMA carrier for years.. No way I'd switch back to a CDMA carrier... and as others have pointed out Verizon plans can be pricey so what you save on the device you are probably going to more than make up for it on plans....

Some people love Verizon... I know of a couple of people who swear by them.... I use to swear by Sprint... Once I finally pulled the plug (with my Nexus 5) and went prepaid on a GSM carrier there is no way I'd switch back.... I've enjoyed T-Mobile but in a matter of a few minutes I can run and get a SIM for any other carrier if needed.... MUCH BETTER (In my humble opinion)

Will Verizon Nexus 6 have an unlocked bootloader?

Did the Galaxy Nexus? I want to be able to flash roms/recoveries as that's a big advantage of a Nexus device.
