Google Nexus 6 on AT&T

Re: Question about nexus 6 on AT&T

I don't see much difference between my friends note 4 with AT&T and mind in battery to matter. It's only 1 or 2 places I go to once a week or 2 times ?

It's going to be location specific. I sat my Verizon Note 3 right next to a coworkers (at work) who had the AT&T version and my dbms were 10 to 15 better. Pretty solid data.

Are carrier subsidized versions sim locked?

I'm planning to get a nexus 6 from a Carrier using a 2 year contract. According to AT&T chat support and phone support, they claim that the phone will be sim locked to only AT&T and I'd have to wait for the contract termination before they will give the unlock code.

However, I'll be traveling internationally in a month and would like to be able to use a local SIM for voice and 3G. Is that expected to work? I'm seeing some posts here that the Nexus 6 is carrier unlocked, but AT&T is saying that it will be SIM locked. Can someone please clarify?

If it will be locked by AT&T, then I might have to buy it direct from Play Store or Motorola.

Thank for your help!

Re: Are carrier subsidized versions sim locked?

The nexus 6 phones shouldn't be locked to a carrier regardless of if they were bought from one. My friend bought her nexus 5 from Sprint last year and traveled being able to just pop in a UK Sim. I don't think this will be an issue for you

Will AT&T version be branded?

I saw a post on g+ showing an image of the Nexus 6 with an AT&T logo on the back...... Please say it is not so!

Wonder if updates will have to go through AT&T.

This is not good..I don't mind the logo but really annoy with AT&T software...maybe if I can get one from Moto in 14 days I will return the AT&T one..

Re: Are carrier subsidized versions sim locked?

No 4G Verizon phone is SIM locked so I'm sure that will continue for the Nexus. Even before 4G, Verizon would unlock phones that had SIM card slots if you asked them to do so.

Re: Will AT&T version be branded?

From what I've heard, if you've gotten your Nexus 6 from AT&T, as soon as you put in your Sim card, the AT&T apps will download to the phone through the play store. They aren't buried in the partition so you'll be able to just completely uninstall them and be left with pure stock android.

Frickin' AT&T...this phone is too gorgeous to have that stupid death star logo on it. Why can't they just leave [removed by moderator] alone?!!

That's prob why Verizon hasn't announced yet. They are figuring out where to put all those check marks lol

Whew, luckily they didn't have the white version because I was about ready to buy from them. It's a superficial complaint but carrier branding is just an eye sore. It especially looks odd on the back of the Nexus if this actually pans out.

I hope this is true. I have mine preordered and scheduled to ship either tomorrow or Wednesday. The logo on the back I can live with, I don't think it looks all that bad. But if it comes with the bloat installed so updates would have to go through them, I'll be returning it ASAP.

Re: Will AT&T version be branded?

Wow that would be enough to drive me away from buying from ATT. I know it's somewhat trivial but it sort of goes against what a Nexus is (talking about the logo).
