Google Nexus 6 on Verizon

I wish there was a alternative with samsung. I just edged up to note 4 and Verizon told me the insurance rate is now 11/month instead of 8.

$11 includes the extended warranty, but your phone will already have a 1 year manufacturer's warranty.

You should still be able to get the one for $7.15 that covers theft/loss/damage

They have open enrollment now, so you should be able to switch if you want.

I may get it for my Nexus 6, assuming VZW ever carries it.

What's driving me nuts is all the conspiracy theories about whether VZW will ever carry the N6 at all.

Do you guys really think that GOOGLE (!!!) would list VZW as a source of the phone (even if currently greyed out) if it was never going to happen?

One possible theory is that Verizon being grayed out means that the phone can support Verizon bands but Verizon will not actually sell it.

In two words, Nexus One. Verizon was listed as going to carry the Nexus One and what did we get? We got the Droid Incredible instead.

What's driving me nuts is that folks haven't taken VZW release "out of play" in the first place:

Purchase the phone via Moto store, stay off contract and take the monthly service discount, and use Moto interest free credit if the up-front retail cost is intimidating.

You'll own the phone, it will have full functionality, and save money. The only possible downside is that IF VZW releases the phone BEFORE yours ships from Moto. And with every passing day you guys don't place your order that becomes a greater possibility.

Or if your already on Edge, then you've got the hassle of paying whats owed on the phone, then selling it, etc.
PAIN. Rather just Edge up to it, or leave these dingbats all together.

I don't see that as a downside. Get it from Moto and it will be stock Android with no Verizon bloat. I just got my Nano sim card in the mail and will get it activated in my current Note2 I'm using. Want to be sure that will work before I order the N6 from Moto.

This is not a matter of whether subsidy, Edge, or Moto are better or worse for a particular person.

It's a matter of "bird-in-the-hand". This is now a 50+ page thread on N6@VZW, and half of it is a rending of the cloth regarding VZW release.

32gb MN Blue is available @ Moto. Today, Jan. 17, 2015, 12N EST.

If that model won't do it for you, sure, wait for VZW. But in the meantime, you should be monitoring the Moto page. They had all 4 models available for a day or so a few weeks ago, and the folks that ordered now have their CW 64gb in hand or on the way. They may come available before VZW gets around to releasing the phone.......

Agree completely. The only reason I could see someone waiting for the VZW release is if they have a grandfathered, non discounted plan and want to use that subsidy to get if for $200-$300---just an educated guess.

Otherwise, it's silly to pay full retail and wait for Verizon. Get it from Moto, Google, TMO or Sprint and it'll work fine on VZW,

I'm sure if there is VZW specific software for VOLTE or HD Calling, it wouldn't be hard to add that to the non-VZW specific models.

I mention TMO or Sprint, because they are also selling the same Google Play Unlocked editions.

Of course, they may make you pay for a month of service, but it could be worth it if you are looking for a model that is not readily available.

Personally, I started TMO service on 11/19/2014. They shipped the phone on 11/20. I received the $350 ETF Reimbursement Visa Card yesterday and used it to pay off the remainder of the device.

TMO is great as a company, but their pricing and coverage is not what I need, compared to my Verizon plan.

My new billing cycle begins on Jan 21st, but I will be leaving before then and using my device exclusively with VZW.

It was a win for me. I got the device immediately after it was released and have had 2 months to enjoy the phone. TMOs $350 Visa Card basically subsidized 50% of the device, making it cheaper than full retail and about the same as the subsidized VZW price, but I got to hang on to my grandfathered Unlimited data plan.

re: Grandfathering, the subsidized price is available to anyone upgrade on the More Everything *non-edge* plan.

re: Full retail, interest free financing up to 18 months is available at Moto. Non-contract service is only $15/month. Buy at Moto, use the financing, and your VZW monthly payment is close to $50/month. You SAVE money over 24 month costs/subsidized phone on contract.

Better yet is just get your family in on a plan ... I have my elderly mother, sister-in-law, and brother on my plan, they all have smartphones and use under 1G a month of data of the 10G plan. I also just use their upgrades and pass down my phone to one of them if they want a newer one.

I had the GNEX on VZW, the Motorola X and Droid Turbo kinda make a nexus on VZW less important, because if you want the key benefit (google update interval) you're not going to get it on VZW period.

How did you pull that off with the etf? They don't make you show proof or hand over your current vzw device?

They absolutely do make you hand over your current VZW device, but what is current--The phone you are actively using when you port to TMO, or the device that got you stuck with VZW for a $350 ETF Fee?

I knew I was getting the Nexus 6 64 GB and I wanted it immediately. TMO was my way to do it.

1. I opened a new line with VZW and got a Droid Turbo for around $150. It was $250, but they had a promo where you could trade in any smartphone and get a $100 VZW Gift Card. I gave them an old blackberry that was in great working condition.

2. Prior to porting over to TMO, I activated another blackberry on the line and made a few calls, so it was my current device at the time I was porting.

3. I ported the number over to TMO, got the Nexus 6 shipped in record time, and closed the new VZW line.

4. Kept my current VZW service suspended without billing.

5. I knew I was getting the Nexus 6 to use on VZW, so I sold the new Droid Turbo and used the money for beer, food, Christmas presents, and to pay the ETF on my closed VZW Account.

6. As part of the ETF Buyout, I was required to send TMO my VZW Blackberry. They gave me a $1.00 in trade-in credit and applied it to my bill.

7. When I received my final VZW bill, I sent it to TMO electronically and it clearly showed my early termination fee of $350.

8. Because I met all the terms of the promo: ported number , traded in current device, and submitted final bill with ETF clearly noted, they approved it very quickly.

9. Got the $350 Visa card and paid off the remainder of the device.

Yes, I basically was using TMO service exclusively for 2 months, because I wanted to avoid paying TMO and VZW simultaneously for service. TMO was OK, but not of the same caliber as Verizon.

However, they shipped me the device immediately after it was released and gave me $350 after I had fulfilled the terms of their promotion. I really can't speak poorly of them.

Honestly, the $350 Visa Card was pure gravy. If the next Nexus device supports all 4 major carriers and TMO gets it tight away, I'll be happy to make my way back to them and their network may be even better next year.

I still can't believe this phone is still not released on Verizon. I was so excited to get this phone, but the excitement had died down for me.

When is the nexus 6 coming to Verizon

My 2 year contract is up in July, and was wondering when the Google nexus 6 will be on Verizon's network. PLEASE HELP!

It's on Verizon's network now and has been since it's release. They haven't sold it but it works just fine. If you don't have $700 and want to break the cost up over 18 months you can interest free with MotoCare. It works out to $38.88 per month. That is the same thing you will do when you finance through Verizon.

My question is why wait for them to "release" the phone? If you want it, go get it.

Yes, but yours doesn't have to the Verizon 'V' chiseled into the bezel like a cellular tramp stamp and it doesn't have their exclusive bloatware.

Bloatware is what the hot chicks dig. I fully expect the Verizon Nexus 6 to be like nothing we have ever seen before.

I got mine from T Mobile and bought it with a prepaid plan. Put in my Verizon SIM and good to go. Don't need to cancel anything with TMobile,
