Re: Anybody else disappointed with screen battery life and camera ?

Now I definitely know you are trolling - the verge issue is with spartan features (which can be easily added later) - NOT image quality and there is no detailed photo comparisons that disprove anything. What is your problem going out of your way to promote the Note 4 on tne Nexus 6 forum? What is your agenda? Why are you spreading this misinformation?

Re: It's a typical Nexus phone, full of compromises

When it comes to movies

I love that analogy.... I've seen movies with glowing reviews I thought were really bad and I've seen movies with bad reviews I thought were really good.... and a lot of in between....

Negativity based off zero hands on experience or first hand knowledge of anything... They are nit picking the negative parts of certain reviews and trying to preach it as the law of the land.... You just can't please some people and some people just want to stir up trouble....

I've seen reviews say 8 hours of non stop use it top notch and awesome and others say the same 8 hours of non stop use is just not up to par and lags behind the comp.... Grain of salt....

Re: It's a typical Nexus phone, full of compromises

Reading this thread, the common theme is that no phone is perfect, and everyone has their own priorities. Which makes the title of this thread apopros. Compromise. It's what we do with phones, cars (family vs sports car vs sports sedan), houses (neighborhood, commute, schools), etc.

I'm cross shopping the Droid Turbo. My Moto N6 order is a month away.

I'm beginning to think the Turbo is the better COMPROMISE. It's camera doesn't have the shutter thingy going on, it's panel is brighter, and its battery is better. It also is near stock Android and should get the updates quickly (Moto X has beaten my Nexus 7). So the advantages of the N6 would be size of screen, and the ability to root more easily.

Would there be more noise about the Turbo in this thread if it wasn't a VZW exclusive, or are there other negatives that I am missing?

If others, such as yourselves, don't care about these things because you won't notice them, that's awesome. Just don't pretend they're not there.

The only thing we can't ignore is that there are two reviews that show specific benchmarks unfavorable to specific components of the device in comparison with equivalent devices. We also know that despite these benchmarks, there is contradicting experiences ranging from bad to very positive in overall experience of the device from a variety of reviewers.

Even from AnandTech, one of the sites that blasted it in benchmark testing gave it an overall thumbs up despite its issues.
Overall, I think that Google and Motorola have built a solid device. It isn't without its issues, but there's a lot to like, even if you're someone who has never used a phablet before. I had always been somewhat of a skeptic regarding massive phones; I didn't understand the appeal. But after using one, I can see how having a massive display to view all your content can be really beneficial by enabling forms of productivity that simply can't be done comfortably on smaller devices, and by making activities like viewing photos and watching videos significantly more engrossing. Not only did it change my mind about the appeal of phablets, it also changed my mind about Google's ability to compete in the premium device segment of the market. The Nexus 6 holds its own against all the other high end devices that we've seen released this year, although the Galaxy Note 4 with its more phablet oriented software features and hardware advantages might be a better device overall. But those who want a large device and value having software support directly from Google won't be disappointed by the Nexus 6.

I fail to see why it is important for someone to acknowledge something that might be a problem for you when they might be genuinely satisfied with the overall experience of the smartphone. I just don't see how debating that point is useful or constructive in any way.

Nothing wrong with the Turbo. Camera isn't a world beater, but aside from that it's just a higher specced Moto X.

Re: It's a typical Nexus phone, full of compromises

If I'm going to pay for a flagship device, I'm not going to be okay with a camera that focuses in half the time as other cameras and lags when it processes HDR photos. I'm not going to be okay with an AMOLED panel that isn't nearly as efficient as others and has a really low brightness. I'm not going to be okay with another lackluster battery when they could do so much better. Is the battery good enough for most? Sure. Is it as good as other devices with similar sized batteries? No.

If others, such as yourselves, don't care about these things because you won't notice them, that's awesome. Just don't pretend they're not there. And also don't pretend this phone is some huge departure from the Nexus 5/Moto X. We've got the same software already and hardware can be tested. So no, I really don't need to use this device to be able to see if these particular things are good or bad.

Then it looks like your choice is pretty clear. The Nexus 6 isn't for you. Don't buy the phone.

That said I'm sure if you contact Google directly they'll add to their inner sanctum of advisers for the next iteration of Nexus.

I'd be at least mildly interested in the Turbo if it wasn't a Verizon exclusive.... Beastly specs... I've just been more in the market for a Phablet like device since the Note 3 came out last year.... Almost got the G3 back in the summer... Look forward to my 6 shipping very soon... (Motorola said it ships today.. so we will see what happens)

Anyone cancel their order after reading reviews?

Just curious if the reviews swayed people one way or the other or not.

Re: Anyone cancel their order after reading reviews?

No Googles ineptitude, and horrid communication skills did.

Umm the verge article with just note 4 photos disprove the so called comparison article on computer world.

The note 4 > nexus 6 > nexus 5 in terms of camera.....

and you don't need first hand experience to tell the quality of the camera.... Take sample shots and you can tell the quality from there. Looking at the verge and phone arena camera shots the note 4 quality is better....

Computer world they weren't even taken in the same angle or looked better with the note 4 for most of the shots

I am done even responding to your nonsense. There are no side by side comparisons in the Verge article that disprove anything and it is obvious to anyone reading your posts that you are on a mission of misinformation and have an agenda.

Yeah I thought about the Turbo as well, but I'm on T-Mobile so it's a non-factor. Moto X was also in play for me, but I decided to stick with the Nexus family. I've had the 4 & 5, and I love them both, so I figured why not stick with what I know works for me. $700 is lot, but since my contract is minuscule compared to what most people pay and I'm not tied to a contract it's not horrible. Besides I financed it through Motorola with zero interest. Now the only problem I have is that the N6 is taking so long to get here, and I cracked the screen on my N5 just yesterday.

This alone proves the point..... One article disproves another article....

Exactly... There are about 3 who you'll find posting in a bunch of different Nexus 6 post nothing but agenda based negativity like this is a political race for a HOT Senate seat....

Re: It's a typical Nexus phone, full of compromises

258 nits. It was the 2nd worst of all phones tested. Truly terrible.

Graph below is from AnandTech review. What this means is bad viewing outside, and you'll have to run it ay higher brightness, using more battery.

Huh? The Nexus 4 is in the top 40% or so? ABOVE the N5/N6/Note 4?!? HAHAHAHA... totally wrong. I can't see $%& outside in the sunlight with my Nexus 4. I don't give this graph any credence at all.

Re: Anyone cancel their order after reading reviews?

I am on the fence. I would like to try it, but at the same time, I dislike the hybrid device sizes.

Re: Anyone cancel their order after reading reviews?

The reviews that actually posted comparison pics, etc. confirmed this purchase for me. I have the note 2 and the nexus 6 is the first phone I have seen that actually has me excited about upgrading. Great camera, big beautiful screen, stock android lollipop, google on without touching phone, hardware specs, decent battery life, etc.

That's because even right now, the Nexus 5 is a good device. The Nexus 6 doesn't regress from the Nexus 5, but it failed to really improve upon it in any meaningful way. There isn't really a debate here. It's perfectly acceptable to be disappointed in a device that could/should be the best the platform has to offer, but somehow isn't because they didn't learn from their mistakes. Instead, they managed to botch the launch even worse than last year and stuck a larger price tag on a phone that has the same compromises for the most part. Overlooking that and buying the phone? That's 100% fine. Everyone has their preferences.

On the fence too. Debating on just selling mine on Ebay when I get it and go for Moto X Pure Ed.
