Did you cancel your pre-order after reading the reviews?

Re: Anyone cancel their order after reading reviews?

The Nexus 6 is the phone for me. Especially since Verizon denied me a Nexus 5. The Note 4 sounds like a great phone though.
Good luck getting one and even more if you want it at a Verizon store. :)

I tend not to watch video reviews.
I can read much, much faster than the video progresses. Sometimes though I like to see a particular thing in action and will suffer through until what I want to see is presented.
No real surprises so far. At least nothing that would influence my buying decision.

Re: Anyone cancel their order after reading reviews?

If that wasn't a typo and you did mean Note 2, the Nexus 6 should be better in all those areas you highlighted. Same with the Note 4.

That was not a typo. The Note 2 already has a big screen. It's not as big as the Nexus, but it's still adequate. Is the camera on the Nexus 6 really better than on the Note 2? The Note 2 had a very good camera. Battery life on my Note 2 is also decent, and in a phone like the Nexus where I can't swap out the battery, battery life needs to be superb. I'm certain the Nexus is significantly faster than my old Note 2, but I don't do processor-intensive tasks. I just need a smooth user experience. Two years in, the Note 2 isn't lightning fast, but it doesn't really keep me waiting, either.

Tl;dr: The Nexus 6 and Note 4 bring improvements, but not enough for me to justify the upgrade.

Re: Anyone cancel their order after reading reviews?

I should add an addendum to why I'm not re-ordering. The Nexus 6 looks like a GOOD phone. I'm not one to go through phones quickly, though. Whatever I get, I'll probably have for 2 years. I'm looking for a phone that will blow me away. Two years ago, that was a Note 2. All the improvements in the past 2 years have felt very incremental. Maybe 64 bit or something else will bring a more substantial shift next year.

Respect. Haha. I generally hold onto a phone for a month or two at best.

Re: Anyone cancel their order after reading reviews?

I watched one review and told my girlfriend, "I'm getting this phone." Then I watched a few more, and read many others. And I don't think I am anymore. IF I do, I'm going to wait it out and see exactly what Lollipop updates can and will fix.

I'm not following any reviewers opinion. Last I checked I don't recall any of them saying "don't get this phone". I'm simply forming my opinion based on the many facts I've read and seen about this phone on many reviews.

If I did that, getting a Nexus 6 would be a no-brainer. But I don't want to feel a year from now like I'm stuck with something mediocre.

Getting the Note 4 would be an even bigger no brainer.

So you expect somebody to put down $700 for real life experience and then if they don't like it return it? This is what reviews are for..

Sure. If I went through phones quickly, I'm sure I'd have gotten a Note 4 on release day, then a Nexus 6 asap, then decide which to keep until the new batch of phones come out in the spring.

Man the way the smartphone industry has been moving I'd guess it will look somewhat mediocre in about six months.... By Spring we are going to see a wave of new 64 bit 808 and 810 based phones hitting the market... Rumor already is Samsung is working on a 4K 6 inch screen for the Note 5 next September......

Probably is you just can't wait.. if you need a new device and it's been around 2 years since you upgraded it's about time or maybe wait for Spring.... If you have a S5 or something that came out this year you should probably wait unless you can just afford it.

That being said I think in a year the Nexus 6 will still be a very solid device... Not top tier anymore but still more towards the top than the middle or bottom...

Re: Ars Technica: Nexus 6 Review - The “premium” price still comes with compromises

One thing I don't get is whenever the Playstore has been open since last Wed, everytime I try to add a Nexus 6 phone once I clicked the 'Add to cart', I get this below. What does the URL with "Exceeded Limit' mean? C'mon man.... UGG

Re: Anyone cancel their order after reading reviews?

If you've used as many devices as I have, you'd know there's generally not a gross difference between next iterations, especially if the software is the same. Pretending like this is some huge departure from the Nexus 5 other than size is kind of hilarious. Keep going to that well of me not having the device, though. When you get it and see exactly what I'm talking about, it'll be amusing to discuss.

I enjoy phones and tinkering with them. That's why I've stuck with the Nexus line. With this series of phones it's actually encouraged. It may not be a revolutionary step up from the Nexus 5 or the Note 4 or any other flagship out there. But it's one of the best options for this kind of exploration. I've read all of the reviews and I'm still going to give it a try because the vast majority are very positive. The bottom line is that no phone is future proof, no phone is the definitive best, and no phone is even infallible. They're technology, and technology never stops evolving.

You have not blocked him yet? I refuse to keep feeding into that baloney..... He can respond to me all he wants but it just shows up as "You have blocked...................................." and I know I didn't miss anything intelligent or meaningful....

Re: Anyone cancel their order after reading reviews?

I've said multiple times that if those things don't bother you and you buy the phone anyways, that's 100% cool with me.

Wow am I glad its cool with you that I pick up the Nexus 6! whew..thanks!!
