I'm going to check it tonight about ten! For some reason the delivery manager won't let me flag it hold for pick up! Wondering if it has to scan into Memphis first? I know you need to do it before it arrives in your city or it'll go out on the truck! Then I'm waiting around half the morning...

I just talked to a Fedex rep for International packages. She said that basically it would be up to Customs. If they clear the whole delivery in bulk then it will get processed quickly and out to the receiving stations. But if Customs flags it, then we are SOL. At least that is my understanding. So we may get it tomorrow if Customs approves the bulk shipment.

Some times amazes me when people who work for the carrier don't even have a clue.... It cleared customs in China... If you check your tracking it has a section that says clearance in progress and then (At least on mine) it says 4:10 pm International shipment release - Import (Can't be importing into China it's already in China).... That is the customs clearance being done before it's even loaded on the airplane... Mine shows it went into customs for clearance at 2:40 and cleared at 4:10 and then it gets loaded on a truck for the airport.... Shouldn't have to do anything once it lands in Memphis........ Now if someone had an issue with any package that cleared in China over the 15+ hours the aircraft was in the air... Yes customs could flag the whole airplane and everything would have to go through again.... but it should be done now.... a lot of international airports with direct flights to the United States have US Customs and boarder agents in the international airport and you clear before you even leave that country...

That being said still makes me nervous that the shipment doesn't actually SAY departed Hong Kong International airport.... I just know the last scan was at 10:32 PM and FedEx said the flight lifted off the ground at 10:34 pm.... pretty darn close timing.....

Oh and I got this email from my FedEx delivery manager at 2:10 in the morning which would be 4:10 pm in China...

Clearance issues resolved. Shipment released for delivery

Re: How many got to order and which day?

I have come to the realization mine may never ship. I paid for overnight too.

Yea, I got the same email. And by looking at the people who already got theirs shipping info. It shows "In Transit" from Chek Lap Kok and then the next entry is it arriving in Memphis. So I think our package is on the flight. The lady said it was in International. But then who knows what she may or may not know. I do see where mine shows the same as yours as having cleared customs. I guess the next few hours will tell... I have a sad life chasing a phone around...lol

I am about 99% sure it made the flight... It cleared customs at 4:10 pm and shows it arrived on the island the airport is on at 7:20 pm and the flight departed at 10:34 pm.... There is a lot of time in there to make the flight...

but again ANYTHING could hold up the shipment in Memphis... They will unload and everything will be scanned and if there is one too many packages scanned vs what is on the manifest it will have them manually going through each shipment and matching them up.. and a 777 LR cargo plane coming from China has a couple of packages on it and it will take some time to sort that out.... It's a very rare situation but again I have seen it happen.......

and yes it's actually depressing to think of the amount of time I've spent on here and trying to get a hold of one of these things.. My wife and kids think I am insane... I think my dogs are even starting to look at me funny..... I had to go hit the gym last night and tonight... the last week has been consumed with this B.S. and I needed that 90 minutes away the past few days..... blow off some steam and get away from a computer and phone....

Today was the UK launch on play store, can officially say it was worse than the U.S. Launch, not gonna lie I think they only had half a device in the inventory

I hear ya on getting away. I have to do it just to keep some sanity, or the appearance of such to those around me...lol While I was excited to get the N5 last year, I have not been this excited to get a phone since the very first Droid on Verizon with the slide out keyboard many moons ago. Been wanting a phone like this for awhile.

And I believe the phones are on board and currently over California.. At least they are feet dry now. And that is a huge plane. Would they stop the sorting of everything on the plane if the manifest is off? Or just certain sections? Would be bad if they had to reinventory the whole plane....

I don't know if they do it by container or the entire airplane... The international priority stuff (Which is how they shipped the phones) should come off first or near first (There might be a few more important packages on there but I highly doubt there is anything more important than what appears to just be just our two phones from the back and forth on here today) If I had to guess they'd do it by container but not release everything until each container is done... one might be short a package and one over a package..... That would pretty easily narrow down the error....

I wasn't this excited last year.... But last year they announced and put on sale the same day... I ordered mine on October 31 and woke up November 1 with it in transit already and I just had that weekend all hyped up for it to show up on Monday.... and as soon as they said I could come pick it up I left work and went and got it... This has been what is now 34 days of torture from the October 15 announcement, October 29 debacle, November 5 debacle and lucking out on November 6 with Motorola..... and a few people who got their devices on Monday ordered after I did... LOL!!! Like they just pulled names out of the November 6 hat and shipped them.... But oh well.... the day is almost here....

I have no doubts that Fedex has our two phones boxed up nice and neat with the pilots watching over them to make sure they arrive in pristine condition...lol What could be on that plane more important than that??? Hopefully though all the phones can deplane without incident and everybody can get theirs ASAP

And I am surprised by the randomness of how all this has played out. I know that people who ordered after us on the 6th with Motorola have gotten theirs already, and that is awesome, I am happy for them. Just wonder why they did not go in order of the sales order numbers. Not to mention the poor Google Play people who got to pre-order on the 29th and have nothing to show for it. At least we have a plane with our orders apparently on it. Lots of tomfoolery with this order. But then again, last year they only sold it on the Play Store. LG did not sell them. The carriers did not sell them until later and just TMobile and Sprint did.

Steve don't you realize overnight goes out last so we get it at the same time as 3-5 day shipping?? It's not like we paid more to get it quicker.......... Wait a minute

Now that's funny!!!!

yeah I posted earlier but the Nexus 5 cleared the FCC on September 5 and was announced and went on sale October 31 st.. they had two months to get production up and running.... Nexus 6 was announced October 15 but didn't clear FCC until October 24... I'd guess they didn't even start any mass production until later in the week of October 24 or the first of November.... T-Mobile pushed their launch out because Motorola failed to deliver their devices on time and they had such a limited Qty they decided to hold off a week...

I think it all falls on Lollipop... I know the rumor on October 15 was it wasn't ready at all and I think Google just tried to rush it.... and heck on November 13 when they lifted the review embargo several reviewers noted a rather large Lollipop update hit that morning and I've read of a few other updates since...

THEY SHOULD have pushed any announcement to October 31 and started preorders around right now with delivery the first of December... would have given them 6 - 7 weeks from FCC approval to ramp up productions and get all the devices out they needed to get out.. We'd have to wait a little longer but the overall process and perception would have been much better and we wouldn't have spent the last 3+ weeks complaining about this launch....No way Google or Motorola is building a million or two devices without that FCC stamp of approval first... Too risky if something is wrong or off....

I believe, just my own opinion of course, that it could have been one of two things.

First that Motorola had the production and there are a crapload of phones sitting in Los Angles waiting to clear due to that strike. And to match delivery times they are producing more and sending them via plane which is much more expensive and probably getting helped to do so by Google.

Or that as you say, lollipop was not ready. This is the one I think the most plausible, because they are still updating apps and doing software updates to fix things. But I think they wanted to keep the dates set because the know that when Black Friday hits, there will be deals out there and people who are waiting will just get something else that is on sale for a good deal and in stock that they can have right away. Especially since this is going to all the carriers. They want to sell as many as they can before that date hits. Even if it meant rushing it out the door. They know they can just patch it as they go along and clear up any problems with the software...

I just got got my shipping email! yay! Ordered 64GB midnight blue on Nov 5th from Play store.

Next year now I know; order late, go with standard shipping, don't order Googles phone from Google and you'll get it faster.

Btw....is white being held up?

Good luck with Sprint AnnDroid...... Last year it only took about 36 hours to get my Nexus 5 from the play store activated on Sprint... you have to get someone who knows what they are doing to put in a ticket to get the IMEI loaded in their system and then it takes about 24 hours to clear and your good to go (or hopefully... If it's like last year)

Apparently, that's the way it works now. Had I known one day shipping simply meant the phone would sit in the warehouse longer, I could've saved some money. At this rate, the OnePlus One is going to arrive at my door first.
