Google Nexus 6P Visual Voicemail on AT&T

Re: Visual Voicemail on AT&T

I guess it's not available on AT&T right now. Which really sucks. I was looking forward to it.

TMobile supports the native voicemail feature in Marshmallow, all others (Verizon and AT&T), you need to first install the Google Voice App (https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...android.apps.googlevoice&hl=en&token=MSb_4Yqe) and set it up to only do voicemail (it will ask you when you first run it). Then go into the app, click on the settings (the three stacked dots in the upper right corner) and make sure you place a check in the box labeled "Voicemail Disply". This will activate the Voicemail tab in the dialer so that you can play your voicemails from there.

Re: Visual Voicemail on AT&T

Yes, with AT&T you do not get the voicemail tab, but it's not really needed. When you have a voicemail, you see it in the drop down list. Click it and it takes you to the voicemail. If you need to see other voicemails, you open the ATT Visual Voicemail app. What it doesn't do, it seems it keep your already heard / listened to voicemails.

Re: Visual Voicemail on AT&T

Yes, I have that.
However, that is not visual voicemail, it is merely 'normal' voicemail, without transcription.

Oh yeah I mean you could install it -- I am just happy the default works for me so I don't have to download the T-Mobile app to make it work. Everything phone related is conveniently in the phone section... Just preference really :).

I have done all of this but it doesn't show new voicemails in the tab now. I just have a useless tab there. Any ideas?

I had the same problem then found the issue. In the google voice app in settings make sure you check off "Voicemail Display". @dmcman73 said it earlier. Once I did that it showed up in the voicemail tab. But like others said you don't get Gvoice transcription.

I have another issue - once I forwarded "when busy", "when unanswered", and "when unreachable" it goes to google voice like it should, but when I'm testing calling myself from another phone it rings several extra times before going to voicemail. And you would think since the forwarding is going to google voice it would ring me in voice/hangouts to see if I wanted to answer there but it doesn't do that either. I was hoping this would be a solution for having no cell signal (and no wifi calling - stupid AT&T) and would forward calls I couldn't get to hangouts so I could answer on wi-fi but sadly it doesn't do that.
