Hi, really need some help here! My 9 year old daughter decided to put a password on her tablet 2 days ago. She forgot the pattern so now the tablet is locked because of too many pattern attempts. When I turn it on it asks for her email and password...but the keyboard will not pop up! Therefore, I obviously cannot type it in. I have no idea how to fix this. Any tips? I do not mind doing a complete reset if someone can guide me through it. Thanks

Reset your tablet to factory settings

1. If your tablet is on, power it off.
2. Press and hold Power until the device powers on, then immediately press and hold Volume Down (while still pressing Power). You will see the word Start with an arrow drawn around it.
3. Press Volume Down twice to designate Recovery mode.
4. Press Power to restart into Recovery mode. You will see an image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark.
5. While holding down Power, press Volume Up.
6. Use the volume keys to scroll to "wipe data/factory reset" and press Power to select it.
7. Scroll down to "Yes - erase all user data" and press Power to select it.

Note: If at any point during the above steps your tablet becomes unresponsive, you can restart it by holding down the power button for several seconds.

i may be wrong, but wouldnt you need a unlocked bootloader to access recovery mode?

OMG thank you so much MATHELM. My daughter put a password on my tablet because if stopped orienting to horizontal. I never wrote down the password (dumb) because I thought I would remember. Well time passed and I didn't use the tablet for a long time, then one evening I decided to look on it and lo and behold there was the password sitting in front of me - aaarrrrggghhh!!! I called her but she never answers her cell phone, so I was stuck. I looked all over the web and stumbled on this android forum. I had seen the instructions for holding down the ON button and up/down sound button simultaneously but it wouldn't work. Then when I read your instructions they were much more clear and precise. I did exactly as you show, and it reset. HALLELUJAH!!!!! I'm thrilled. Thank you, thank you, thank you. SUSIE
