Link to the NYT article. Excellent read. Personally I applaud Google's choice. Let's just hope the decision is not a flash in the pan.

The nexus 7 is also made and designed in the USA. I applaud Google and Asus for this. I wasn't even thinking of getting the tab but I just may to help support some fellow Americans jobs. But I don't see many other manufacturers following suit. But this does show you can make a good electronic device for a reasonable price in america.

Whoa. Got a link to where the Nexus 7 is "made and designed in the USA"?

As far as I know, the Nexus 7 started as an Asus (Taiwanese) tablet that Google like and brought into the Nexus program. It's transformation into the Nexus 7 did involve Asus bringing in engineers to work at Google in the US, I doubt it's manufactured here.

I had heard the other day that the components were made outside the US, but the devices are assembled in the US.

Sometimes every little bit helps.
