Hello, I bought a google nexus 7 (2013) yesterday and have been unable to get the google now hotkey command "Ok Google" to work on my homepage. I have US as my language (across all specs -- I'm in the US no surprise as it is default), have Hotword detection under settings --> language & input --> voice search, uninstalled all apps, and have tried factory reset. Is there anything else I can do to activate Ok Google from the hompage? I'm running Android version 4.4.2.

It works on once I'm actuall in the Google now page when I select the mic by the way.

The N7 doesn't have the Google Experience Launcher and Google Now features like the N5, and doesn't operate in the same fashion.

As mentioned by Gwaron, that feature won't work since it's only working with the Nexus 5. Hopefully the feature will be allowed on other Nexus devices without having to find a workaround to get it working.

All you have to do is install the gel launcher. Search is already update. Did it with mine brand new and it works perfect.

I'm running GEL also, but have discovered a couple of bugs. Nothing major, though.

I greatly appreciate the feedback. I'ma total android newbie as this is my first tablet/android device. I had just seen some people on youtube doing unboxing and other junk and saw that some were actually able to use it from the homepage so I was a bit taken back when I realized my device didn't have the same functionality. So I guess this closes my curiousity in knowing that they're just using another launcher feature.

Is there anyway to put my location on maps and Google now as home?
Because I'm only able to put as my home some location I search on the search box, and my home doesn't appear by searching.

Welcome to Android Central! Open Google Maps, then swipe from the left edge and tap Settings, then Edit Home or Work, and then Edit Home Address. You should be able to input your Home Address there.

Thanks :)
I did that. But i live like in the middle of nowhere and so i can only fins near points by typing my adress.
What i wanted to do was go to actual location on maps and put that as my home. Is there a way to do it?

Have you tried entering it as coordinates (i.e., degree & minutes)? You'd have to determine the coordinates of the middle of nowhere first--it's easy on Google Maps on the computer browser, but I'm not sure if the Maps app allows you to determine coordinates.

I'll try that.
After knowing the coordinates i just put then where i would put my adress?

Yes, give that a try. Enter the coordinates exactly as they are displayed in Google Maps, including the ? and ' signs.
