Google Pay is awesome

Iv'e never tried Google pay because my understanding is that it's not as widely accepted as Samsung Pay which I've used quite a bit.

Anywhere you see accept NFC payment will accept Google pay. So if Apple pay work, Google pay will work also. Samsung does have an advantage since it uses magnetic secure transmission, it mimic the managetic strip on your credit card so it can be use at more places.

Is Google Pay good enough to not need to carry credit cards?

No, still to many terminals don't take NFC. Samsung Pay is still superior on this point with the MST tech. That may be the Sammy feature I'd most want on a Pixel.

The Costco I shop at take a tap of my card, I've not tried Google Pay because they need the card out for ID anyway.

This is the only place I've just tapped my card to the terminal to pay.

Yeah, but still more secure to use Google pay since your real card number isn't used

Thanks for the info.

I use Google Pay everywhere that accepts NFC payments and I use Samsung Pay via my Gear S3 at places that don't accept NFC payements. I wish all retailers would get on board with mobile payments. So much more secure. It seems like almost weekly I'm reading about another retailer that had customer card data stolen.

That was an easy setup. I simply used the VISA card I've had registered with Google Play for years. I'm good to go!

I've been so reluctant to connect a card to my phone. Guess I gotta suck it up and get with the times lol

Except for running into the rare fickle NFC reader you'll find it super easy and fast to use. You'll be done with phone back in pocket well before you'd even have a CC out of wallet into a chip reader slot.

Or get a watch and make it faster :P. Such as w/ my Apple Watch double click button, tap watch, done and done. Same should work w/ Google Pay on an Android Watch.

Not yet, but more and more places accept it now. I always prefer to use Google play if I can. Much faster than waiting for chip card to authorize, plus it's more secure. It always uses a randomized generate number instead of your real card number so if the store get hacked, your number is safe.

I agree 100%. My only issue that some credit cards will not give me points and perks when using Google Pay.

Google Pay, Apple pay or any pay that uses NFC payment system is same, nothing special

Samsung pay in addition to NFC also use MST technology that will let you use it at pretty much every place even though they don't have NFC terminals. So at this point Samsung pay is most useful.

I haven't use Apple Pay

In my area, more often than not it seems that if the CC terminal is accessible to the customer the terminal takes mobile payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay). The rest have the terminals behind the counter where it'd be awkward to try using a mobile phone for payment.

In the UK the limit that you can pay with Google Pay per transaction is £30, maybe around $40?

This must be a European thing. I've used Google Pay on transactions approaching $200. Retailers in the US are also adopting the practice of not requiring signatures when using Google Pay for transactions over $60 (previous limit for no signature at some retailers).

I use Google Pay at least everyday around town, luckily a few stores in this small town accept it . Love it
I have been using since back when it was called Google Wallet.
Always preferred using Google Pay over a credit card swipe(or chip) , because feel its more secure.
I also have use Apple Pay pretty much functions same way.
