Google pay problem on galaxy s8 plus

Two days ago I used google pay @ a subway and worked flawlessly before android pay merged with google. Today I tried it @ the same place and I get this error “You can no longer use Google Pay on this phone”. My phone was never rooted or unlocked. Anyone else having this problem?

Yes I installed the beta yesterday morning.

Because it's a beta, Google doesn't recognize your phone status as "official". That was a big issue for those who went through the whole beta thing. The Play Store says the same thing although it works without problems. Once the official Oreo gets downloaded, it will work fine.
If you really want to use Google Pay before official Oreo rolls out, , you'll have to hook up to Smart Switch and roll back to Nougat (7.0)

But doesn't that require a factory reset to go back to nougat? If so I'd rather wait then setup my phone again

Yes, unfortunately rolling back to 7.0 will factory reset your phone.
