Google Photos app auto dimming

I've been defaulting to LG 's gallery app because Photos does this annoying auto dim every time I pop open a photo with it. Anyone else having this issue or know of a fix? I first encountered this on G3 demo units at ATT corporate but thought it'd be fixed by now.

Had the same problem on my old moto X, never did figure it out. It might not be your phone, may just be the app
