Google photos draining battery

Anyone have this problem? I'm not even actively using the app, it just starts running in the background and eating up battery. I have to force it to sleep.

Does your phone auto put any apps to sleep? I can't remember if I had to select which apps to allow that.

I had this problem on my S8. I just changed the photo settings to only back up when charging and it fixed the problem.
