Google Photos help: How do you delete photos from the cloud, not just your device?

On my phone, I am only given the option to delete the device copy, not the copy stored in the cloud.

When you tap the photo to make it fullscreen, tap the garbage can icon at the lower right, instead of tapping the Menu button (which is where the Delete Device Copy option is). This will move the photo to the Trash folder, which will be emptied after about 30 days, I think.

Does this delete from both cloud and device? Is there a way to delete from cloud only?
