Google pixel 2 battery dischage fast in China

Last week I was in China bringing my Google Pixel 2. Google services were not available, as expected. However, I did not expect the fast discharge of the phone battery - it could only last around 7 hours with moderate usage. After coming back to Canada, the phone can last a whole day again with the same or more frequent usage. Is there any trick to avoid fast discharge in China? Maybe I just need to disable some Google apps/services which are not available in China any way?

Welcome to Android Central! My suspicion would be poor cell signal. Did you notice what the cell signal strength was like where you were in China?

Another possible culprit is, if you were using your Canadian SIM and roaming, your phone was regularly scanning for your home network. This wouldn't explain your issue entirely, but it may have contributed to it.
