Google Pixel 3 small size

It's getting REALLY hard to find small phones, especially if you want decent specs. My wife had been using a Droid Mini for a few years, and loved the tiny size. Come time to replace it, and the best she could find was the Moto E4 (not plus), and she's been pretty happy with it. I just looked it up on phonearena's phone size comparison, and it's almost identical to the Pixel 3 (nonXL). That's about as small as they come with decent specs from major brands.

It's too bad that there aren't many decently-spec'ed (I'm tired - I'm making words up now!) phones out there that are smaller in size.

To be fair -- I remember people saying "You will never need 2 GB of RAM on a PC!" or "You will never need more then 100 GB on a hard drive!" -- Obviously tech keeps going :).

My first Hard Drive that I put on my original IBM PC in 1983 was 5 Megabytes. Not Gigabytes, but Megabytes. And I wondered how I would ever fill it up. And that Hard Drive cost a little over $2,000. Yes, two thousand dollars for a 5 Megabyte hard drive!

Yep.

the height is perfect but I wish they would have made it 16 to 9 so that it would be a little wider. They could use the extra width for greater battery capacity and alternate characters on the keyboard. I miss being able to long press the alphabet letters for alternate characters on my old phone

I can go back further.... I had a 20 meg hard drive and people were like wow! That's a lot.

Which alternate characters are you referring to? Because typing right now, if I long press any key on the upper row I get numbers 0-9, the middle and lower row has either special characters (@,#,$,&, etc) or punctuation characters (", ', !, ?).ostly they're the keys you see when you hit the ?123 button in the lower left corner. I'm using the GBoard keyboard BTW. So what characters are you referring to?

Aha! The alternate characters are available but you have to switch it on in Syettings|System|Input|Gboard. Interesting that yours was automatically on and mine was not. I came from LG GYM and had some setup issues, so maybe it works if you had it on another Pixel. Thanks!

Probably because I've had several Google devices that use the GBoard keyboard. I probably changed that setting awhile back. When I get a new phone, I have it use my settings from the previous phone, so that's most likely why it was automatically set that way.

I have small/normal sized hands and don't have any problems using Note 9 with just one hand

I would consider my hands medium to large, I can use the 7+ single handed but it needs to rest on my palm making sure it doesn’t slide, and pinky finger holding bottom. It is usable but I’m personally looking forward to a phone that fits in my hand more snug which is more the size of 3

While I enjoy viewing the screen size of larger phones they feel so clunky in the pocket, especially in jeans.

No, more like evolution. I've deleted or disabled ninety apps off of my phone. I decided not to be one of the phone drones just looking at their screens at the bar, coffee shop, or whatever. Phone app, messaging app, camera app, maps and Uber, that's about it. So not needing a huge screen for games, spreadsheets, reading, etc, I'd rather reduce my brick, but have decent connectivity for calls and sat nav, and a decent camera.

I really considered the pixel 3 for pocketability. But then I chose the XL instead. I'm glad I did. Looking at the 3 now and it looks a little small to me.

A 5.5" screen used to be considered huge. Now it's small. Lol!

I know right? I still have the first note (5.3 inch screen) and remember when people would make fun of me for having a phone that was "too big".
