Google Pixel and Pixel XL: The Camera. Let's See Some Shots

I'm saying using reflectors like he does in that video could have been used to misrepresent the HDR capabilities of the camera.

You obviously have no interest in the pixel line, except to convince everyone that your beloved galaxy is the best. Why spend so much time on a forum for something you don't like?

I want the Pixel XL to be good because of it has a great camera and better battery life than my Note 5, I will buy it. However, I probably wouldn't consider the Pixel XL if it wasn't for me wanting to leave Verizon for Project Fi.

I don't have to convince anyone Samsung phones are the best - reviews already do that. I'm just acknowledging it.

The water looks normal to me. I've seen ripples like that before in real life.

I agree. I see the water moving smoothly with the light rippling. That looks totally normal to me.

Beyond that, I'm very impressed with the speedy/accurate auto-focus but also how close it can focus. Google really seems to have massively upped their game from what we've seen so far.

This guy also has a pixel, he's got a youtube as well with some 4k videos.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ju3svbiqU1E IDK if it's just me, but the water looks weird, like it's not moving at all, even though there are noticeable ripples.
Here's more photos

Thanks, nice find! The video and the photos look pretty great IMO.

I thought the water looked normal from what I saw. Overall it seems really good. Just having EIS on 4K is really cool and useful. Really looking forward to trying it out.

Still, the video shows the difference in 30fps(even at 4k) vs 60fps. At 1:18 or so, where he is panning relatively slowly back and forth, you can't really get any of the leaves in focus during the pan. I would love to see a 1080 60fps video of the same thing (which is what I usually take video in). It's a trade off for sure - resolution vs smoothness / action clarity. For mostly static shots 4K 30fps is the way to go still of course.

Rolling shutters used on the sensors contributes to this, too, regardless of fps.

Yeah, editing is something I want to be omitted. Having people from here get their hands on it and posting unedited pics will be something to really judge it by. I don't think it'll disappoint though

Same here, I'm a lazy photographer, and generally take quick pictures and usually don't bother editing either, so a camera that is fast and makes good choices for me when I'm on default/auto settings is something I really appreciate.

Well... just going off what we know now, I am sure that it'll be a great phone. First, the sensor is a slightly upgraded one that is in the 6X... (IMX377 vs IMX378). I am not sure what Sony did to tweak the sensor though, most likely something minor. The IMX377 was still the best performing raw sensor on the market.

So... the Pixel. Google and Qualcomm worked together to farm off the image processing to the ISP... So in terms of shutter speed, the Pixel can rip off an HDR+ photo in less time than the 6P could take a standard picture. That is the killer detail. HDR+ is a marvel in terms of processing. The HDR+ pics coming out of my 6P are better quality than what my wife's Note 7, her S7 and her G4 did. So... the Pixel took that picture quality, made it fast, and added in top shelf stabilization and improved processing due to the new ISP junk in the SoC.

No shock that it popped that high a score.

This is my sentiment exactly. I really don't think anyone can argue with HDR+, especially if it's become more efficient in shutter speed and capture times. The dynamic range alone was leaps and bounds above the others.

Kind of annoying they just didn't do a standard review but instead this artsy fartsy crap. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the work and thought but a general camera review would've been nice

And it would have been nice if they had uploaded it in HD instead of 360p. LOL

That YouTuber clearly ripped off the Verizon pixel commercial. That's all that video is. The YouTuber didn't do any work!

Watch this for the high quality version, it's just a Verizon commercial

Now all that needs to happen is third party camera apps with manual mode need to step up their game and we'll be golden.
