I looked into how Google's system does actually compare to Apple's and, while it's getting close there are spots for greater cohesiveness.

Google is missing a universal clipboard like feature that would mirror what apple offers. Also, yes Google can make calls through Hangouts or Duo, but with Duo it's only others on Duo i.e. can't call a business.

Hangouts does serve that function, but we all know what is going on there. Honestly, Google should've just stayed with hangouts and improved it instead of continually starting and stopping endless other messaging services.

I see my older daughter , she's in college and watch her just continue stuff from her iPhone x to iPad then Mac computer.

I see no reason Pixel fails to match Samsung hardware specs. Pixel has better software. Now crank up the hardware.Really their hardware isn't worth what they charge

There hardware is not bad
Screen one of best out there
Speaker audio one best out there
Rapid charging fast
Chip is with the best of 2018
AOD for notification
Always room for improvement which we see in 2019 pixels

More fast ram primarily but I would love better components. I don't want a notch. I do want led notification light. I would also like all usb c features like hdmi out.

You know, I think there's some reasonable opinions around the hardware design of the phone. Why isn't it more "tip of the spear" type of design. @ChuckG73 posed on a separate thread "...why the Pixel phones are not halo devices like the Pixel book.". There's something to that.

The Pixel book IS considered a halo device and has the feature set and specs to support that. The rest of the hardware lineup seems in line with that type of thinking, but maybe the phones are just a step behind in design and don't set tone like the rest of the hardware offering.

Agree. So is the discussion point around doing more great thing, because you're right. The phone is considered still top be a top phone and is in contention every year as one of the "best".

So what's missing? Is it just ram and storage?

This is a phone that if apple decided to make a Android phone it would be the pixel

Agree again. So maybe the user base is still shaking out? IMO, it is. The brand and the device are still in the process of separating who the brand is for and, frankly, who it's not.

Yes, numbers would be awesome... But this is great news nonetheless! Pixel is a great facet of Google and it is wonderful that it is getting some recognition.

And it's getting more recognition every year just hope they get on with more carriers then sky is the limit .

That's not Google's bread and butter. There are plenty of people here that feel the Pixel is worthy of it's price.

Apple is a US company like Google. I don't know of any phones that are actually made in the US.

I don't know why people want to pay more for less hardware. Anyway they would grow even faster if specs beat or matched Samsung

I would like to see more RAM just to stop hearing it doesn't have enough RAM
