Google Pixel - Preorder / order / shipping thread

I ordered my 5x on the first day last year, September 29th. Estimated shipping was October 28-30th and it arrived on October 21st. I'm hoping for a speedier delivery this year, too.

The struggle I have is that both of my verizon orders still say "Processing" online, but when I call in the automated system says they will ship on the 20th. if they ship on the 20th that means they won't arrive at my house on the 20th? that means I might get it the next week some time. this is bad planning. google should have gotten them to the door steps on the 20th. like when I ordered an iphone last year it showed up on my doorstep the day it was told on pre order not SHIPPED the day pre order stated.

both of these orders were done the day they launched (october 4th) as well as within 30 minutes of the website going up.

Just ordered Pixel 32 GB Black - estimated delivery 10/26-10/28 we'll see how close this estimate is.

Ordered my pixel xl 128 in silver from verizon on October 5th. They said shipping on Oct 20th when I ordered it and I have seen no change. Not worried about the locked bootloader, have no plans to root.
Not worried about the bloatware, only three vz apps installed and I'll keep two of them as I like them. The other will be uninstalled, not simply hidden.
Slight worry about verizon holding up updates, but the $300 they gave me for my old phone overcame the worry.
Haven't been this excited about a new phone since the Moto Droid.

Hi everyone. I'm in the same boat here as a Note 7 survivor. I am coming aboard for the Pixel XL. I just ordered the Very Silver 128GB from VZW. It says shipping by 10/20. I'm very much in need of getting it ASAP so I can turn in my explody-prone Note 7.

Ordered the XL silver 128 gb one from Verizon (coming from the whole Note 7 fiasco, they just did a straight trade, same monthly price)
and Verizon says it'll arrive 10-20.

I was going to wait for some reviews but seeing the delays I am wondering if I can place and order and if something 'bad' comes out of the launch units can I cancel? I just went to order a black Pixel 128GB and it said shipping estimate 5-6 weeks. I'm assuming I'm charged up front based on the comments here. Not too happy paying $750 for a device I won't have for 6 weeks. Is there any kind of return guarantee? I am coming from an iPhone 6 and for this price want to make sure it's worth the switch.

They don't charge you right away. There is an initial hold that goes away. It's just like buying anything online.

Thank you. Do you know if the order can be cancelled through the Google store if I change my mind in 2-3 weeks? I want to get in line since the backorder is so long but when folks start getting them next week if there are big issues I may back off and go for a Galaxy or other phone.

I would assume could cancel until processed and charged. Mine is still able to be cancelled.

It all depends. You can order, and then cancel, as long as the order hasn't started processing yet. The order goes into a "Pending" status for some time until they are actually ready to ship. Once they are ready to ship, the go into a "Processing" status. During that time, you can't cancel. How long the phone stays in "pending" status will be hard to know.
