Google Pixel - Preorder / order / shipping thread

In all honesty - after cancelling the order - I had "cancelling remorse" and re-ordered.

LOL Me too! By the time it gets here there will be plenty of reviews. And 14 days is more than enough time for my own eval.

I ordered the second the order page went up on the Google Store and my black XL 128gb model is estimated for Oct 21-24th with expedited shipping. I'm hoping it comes the 20th since I'll be traveling that weekend!

It would for sure be useful to know when the review embargo is to be lifted.

Last year, the 5X and 6P's reviews came out on Oct 20th (i.e., 3 days before the official release date).

I haven't talked to any tech reviewer, as I am sure they are not allowed to disclose embargo dates, but I will be on the lookout beginning of next week!

If it's of any relevance to anyone here, I preordered on oct. 5th on the Google Store (in Germany) and the ETA is set at Oct. 24/26...

Well, looks like at least one person has received their Pixel...Vlad from the Verge just tweeted this: https://twitter.com/vladsavov/status/786616485456347138

Yeah, I don't understand why I can't find a single proper review yet...

I can only assume it is due to embargoes... Which worries me. When you've already got a product announced and reviewers have devices, is it just that they want to ensure they spend enough time with the device? I hope that is it and not that they don't have faith in the device getting good reviews.

They radios Will be fine. They snapdragon 821 LTE performance be on par with the 820 which topped Moto radios.

It's not that unusual - the iPhone 7 embargo was lifted about 3 days before the release date. Last year's Nexus 5X and 6P had reviews come out 3 days before the release date. Google seems to have some degree of confidence in these phones - otherwise they wouldn't be priced as far above last year's Nexus as they are.

There's no real advantage in having reviews out much before launch date. Google more than sold out of the initial batch (most options on the Google Play store just say "Out of Stock" and let you join a waitlist). Bad reviews mean more people will return the devices; good reviews won't help boost sales if you can't buy the device.

How is Google on this return policy? Is it really no questions asked? It looks like it's actually 15 days but is it hassle free? If so I may place my order tonight.

I cancelled my order as well. That's a lot of money to spend without actually having any real world reviews. What if the battery life is terrible? What if radios are weak? etc.

You have two weeks to return it for a refund from the Google store. I don't think they charge a restocking fee either.....
