Google Pixel USB-C™ earbuds not working on Samsung phones

So I recently purchased a Pixel USB-C earbuds for a S9 Samsung phone and it works fine with most audio except for making calls. I tried using it on a Note 9 and same issue: works well with Spotify and YouTube, but not for making phone calls.

Reached out to Google and at the end of the day, they decided to do a replacement. And when I got the new replacement: same deal. No audio from the earpiece when making phone calls.

Any possible solution you can think of?
