So an update to my earlier post. My QB 32GB XL ordered on 11/4 from the Google Store was shipped on 11/17. Due to the holidays, it was scheduled to come in today (Los Angeles area). I called FedEx all week checking where it was. Apparently it was driven on a truck all the way from their warehouse in Illinois to LA, which would explain why it wasn't being scanned all week. It got to my local FedEx on Thanksgiving morning. Due to them being so busy, they couldn't deliver it today. They moved the delivery date to Monday which disappointed me. However they gave me the option of picking it up tomorrow instead!
I'm a bit worried though. I originally wanted to have it held at my local FedEx for me to pick up in the first place. I planned on being out today until the evening, so I wanted to play it safe and not let it sit on my porch potentially all day. Earlier this week, I called FedEx and then Google to set this up, and a customer support agent from Google told me it couldn't be done. They told me that I couldn't have my package held because a mystery third-party had the sole authority to let it be held at a FedEx location. No one knows who they are or how to contact them, so I was at a dead end to get this authorization. I'm not sure the local FedEx knows about this bureaucratic mumbo jumbo, so I'm afraid I'm gonna run into even MORE problems trying to pick my phone up tomorrow. **knock on wood**
Moral of the story? If you can't wait, pay for the expedited shipping. I thought I'd save a couple bucks, but now I wish I paid a little bit extra to get it before the holiday. So to all those who'd wish to avoid a potential headache, take my advice. Who knows? Maybe you already have and I'm the fool in this situation...
