Google Pixel2xl camera keeps crashing

The camera on my pixel 2xl crashes randomly. Even under good conditions (full battery charge, ideal atmospheric temperature, no heat up, less apps running in background). Error message I get is "camera has stopped" or sometimes "can't start camera, please restart your phone". So I'll have to restart the phone everytime to get it working. Reported this several times. Happening since 3 weeks. Atleast twice a day!

Any help would be appreciated.

On a side note: Not sure if these two things are somehow related
1. It happened in India and in US.
2. I always use power button to open the camera.

The camera absolutely should not be doing that.
I would ask for a replacement.

What happens if you use the Camera shortcut, either on your Home screen or in the App Drawer, to start the camera?
Have you tried rebooting into Safe mode?
Clear cache/data, Force stop, uninstall/reinstall?

I was getting the camera app and Google duo crashing same time , try to uninstall duo for couple days see what happens ..now I'm on P I don't seem have the problem anymore with both
